If these rumours are true about Tierney and McGregor I’m handing my season ticket back.

Really can't see how you can separate the two Random ? Would players from outside England rather play in the EPL than other leagues like Italy, Spain, Portugal, Germany if the money was the same. I doubt it tbh.

Don't misunderstand me, mate. I agree with you about the EPL. I'm just always reading players saying what a great league it is and how happy they are to be there/ how much the want to be there. Also with transfers: for all that Germany and Spain (arguably also Italy) are more attractive leagues, it's usually only absolute Superclubs like Barça, Bayern, Real that can tempt players away from big English clubs like Arsenal.

It makes no sense to me either, mate; but it seems to be true. The power of good marketing on inexperienced young men, I guess. Their bubble will burst like every other, just wish it would hurry up TBH.

    This is the main thing.

Ajax, Benfica, Porto and most other teams who work under this model of buying or promoting young players, improving them, and selling them on for big money already know who they’re going to replace their outgoing player with well in advance.

We don’t seem to do forward planning.

I get the feeling we have no clue who we would go for if Tierney was to go.

I can't find the quote, but someone above said they wondered if KT's injury might be pretty serious and we want to cash in, because we are not sure if he will ever fully recover (something along those lines, I think).

You know what worries me about this idea? Why hasn't Rodgers had a sniff for Leicester? I mean Leicester could easily afford the price we quoted and Rodgers knows exactly how good he is, why didn't he try anything? Hopefully someone who actually watches the EPL will come on to tell me Leicester currently have one of the best LB's in the league; because if not, that worries me.

It's only " a great league" and they "only want to be there" though because of the money though mate. Nobody can seriously think South American players would rather play in England than other leagues for the same money.

How can we reinvest when we've had no competent head scout for nearly 3 years and still don't have one. One possibly coming in soon... on a short-term contract... in a week or so (bizarrely enough- * is that about? when he gets back from his holiday or something?!).

If him and CalMac go then questions will really need to be asked. I have no hope of us bringing in a whole back 4 this window let alone a starting Centre Mid.

Hounduras have a talented left back who could probably do a solid job for a year. Worked with Lennon previously too :fear:

Or it could just be Rodgers doesn't buy defenders.

I know, mate; but South Americans aren't in that cultural sphere that is saturated with hype about the EPL being the "best league in the world". Northern Europeans, including KT, unfortunately are.

They have Chillwell and it seems they're going to hold onto him. Very little early interest at the price Leicester wants

The timing is the main issue for me. We all know that at one stage, KT will leave. It’s *, but it’s modern football and I do actually completely understand it from Tierney’s perspective.

Right now we need a backup left back. A first choice right back, and really two centre backs, one being good enough to step right in.

We are. Slow. As. *. When it comes to strengthening. £40m would be a good sum when KT does go, but now just isn’t the time. Not until we have a much more coherent transfer and scouting process in place.

If the injury were that bad it would be picked up at a medical, and any deal would be off anyway.
