Any DOF still has to work with PL, and there lies the problem lol.

People always act like guys sign everybody, for all we know he could have signed those guys as the manager wanted them or scouts recommended them.

That was essentially Congerton’s role, not just recruitment. He was just very, very bad at it.

Nah, he was a pish Head of Recruitment. A Director of Football should have a much bigger remit, but it is us tho.

I agree. We're not the worst but we're nowhere near the best in terms of our football academy.

It isn't the main group from reserve to first team to be fair which is arguably the most important. It's mainly the younger age group's where they've stolen a march on us..

The snake mentioned it when watching the under 17's against the huns in a final a year ago. He was taken aback just how bad we were..

    Agreed..

Definitely no the worst but should be much better in how the way we're supposed to be playing all the way through the group's. It isn't like we haven't got the player's there..

They seem to be playing and signing player's from good European academies in Europe, which is giving them a good name and dibs on decent player's..

And all this while having half the money we have and totally revamping their academy in the last 2 years...

Cracking interview with Norwich’s DOF when he first joined about how the club had filled important youth coaching roles with people loyal to the club instead of talented coaches. He said they’d invested too much in too many talented players for them to not have the best coaches available...

Was outrage when he went in and started getting rid of the likes of Huckerby and coaches who’d been there a long time. Within a year they’d have 4/5 youth teams players in the first team.

It’s jobs for the boys at every level with us. Worst kept secret in football that we’ve got Kennedy hanging around so he can become manager after 10 in a row if we get it.

If we even rated him in the slightest as a manager he’d be manager just now.

There are so many DOFs out there that would be better than this guy. Goes along with the rest of our uninspiring appointments so far though.

Weren’t the ones involved in the youth setup ready to get rid of KT before Deila spotted him. Kinda sums up where we are at with the level of coaches we have. We’ve had KT McGregor and Forrest come through but should be more

I remember Deila talking about the importance of the youth setup when he came in, basically the same way he talked about modernising the fitness/diet side of stuff for the first team that obviously got more attention in the papers because of fallout from players. Anyone know if anything actually happened in his time on the youth side of things or not, and if it did did we just * it off when he left?

I know he requested the indoor stuff and it was never granted. Considering he was undermined with the first team I doubt he was able to have the kind of control the implement any major changes in the youth academy

He introduced more analytical stuff so they could use data to gauge the players progress and the players were given their own username/passwords so they could go to a website and monitor their progress and look what they had to work on. Was more physical stuff at that level though.

Before he came it seemed anytime we loaned a youth player out we got complaints about their fitness. Watt, Rogic, Atajic...
