Can we delete this thread and stop talking about this wee fud. Every window just seems to get worse for us and more embarrassment. Over to PL to get other signings in the door. If we got a quality rb and 2 cb's we are looking pretty decent again but talking about David Turnbull has went too far now. We done the right thing in the end, let's get some players in here who want to play for us

Ultimately we decided he wasn't worth the money he wanted. Let's see if he proves us wrong.

At the end of the day, Celtic stumped up the cash to Motherwell and offered him what was rumoured to be a very decent wage given that he has only had very recent success.

Anyone who is slating the club or Lawwell on this matter needs their head checked.

I think Lawwell will get pelters all summer and in many cases it will be justified, but I don’t think he can take much flak for this.

If we had broken the wage structure for this guy we would’ve caused ourselves much bigger problems with our current players and any future players coming in.

Aye we dont have a crystal ball that see's Turnbull being an out and out star then being sold for £20 million in 2 years time, truth is he was a short term rising star in an indifferent Motherwell team

Ultimately the wee guy didn't back himself. Thought it better to accumulate as much money as possible before he gets found out. Got to admire the self awareness.

Dissapointed not to get him since he looks a cracking talent but then his agent would of always been pushing for a move down South for more money after a year or 2.

That’s being naive mate. Especially when the agent has previously been difficult.

To be fair the agent would have proposed the deals to Turnbull to decide about, he can't sign the contract for him. If Turnbull really fancied it here he would've made that known to his agent.

Instead he's off to the EPL where he will either sink or swim. Given how cut-throat it is and how desperate they will be to stay up I can see his not playing too much and ending up the next Ryan Gauld, stewing away in the reserves.

Yes 100% but the agent is the one who is advising and trying to grind the wages out of Celtic. A decent agent would have advised the lad to accept a decent offer and then prove he is worth more. Something Tierney done.

Aye, depends on the intelligence and ability of the player to see the bigger picture.

Dembele came to us after a decent goal return in the English Championship and 6 months after Spurs were in for him.

Had he chased the bigger money at that time he'd have been stewing on the bench behind Kane or out on loan and there's every chance he wouldn't have developed like he has and being touted for moves to Man Utd or Arsenal.

With the money Norwich will make from their promotion they can easily throw £3.25m on the transfer and another £3m on wages over 3 years for Turnball but for us that extra £1.5 m in wages was just too far AND I agree with the Board on this occasion(is that an automatic ban?)

I really don’t think it is. Imo the naive approach is to assume he’s a daft we laddie incapable of any independent thought, and completely agreeable to anything his agent suggests.

He employs the agent to act in his interests. At some stage there absolutely would’ve been a decision between turnbull and his agent about what our best offer was, and what they should do with it.

I think it's been a case of play Celtic for mugs and it has worked a treat, have us as an option if no one else comes in over the window(It has only just opened, he would be daft to just accept when offers he would prefer could come in). We made one error and that was the embarrassing tweet, but it was incredibly bad and made us look pathetic. I think we have been waiting and then heard through the grapevine that Norwich were coming in and tried to save face by saying we were pulling out- another riddy.
Plus he isn't a tim. He will get down south now and no have to deal with all the * that goes with playing for Celtic; mega exposure and hatred from the delusional.

The worst thing about it is we have been trying to get this sorted and we don't even need him. There are many areas that we desperately need strengthening.

I don't disagree with any of that and have said as much in previous posts. Turnbull has been the final say in all discussions and there were posters absolving him of blame because he was on holiday. But as far as the agent goes, I believe he is the man who was driving the hard sell with unacceptable demands and I also think he has used the failed McGinn transfer as a marker in his approach. Both parties on their end are fully culpable and I think Celtic were correct in going public. Seems to be the media over hyping this detail and fail to highlight all the info leaked by Turnbulls side.

Very stupid move, if he joined us he would get a winning mentality with plenty of possession to show his talents

If he had joined Norwich as a championship team could have been a good move as they would be a title contender in that league and like mcginn going to the championship last year he could have made his mark

But Norwich as an EPL Team motive now is to avoid relegation, in the majority of games they will have the minimum of possession and Will lose a lot more than not and doesn’t really do much for a new 19 years old confidence
