This whole thing has been a total mess.

Would we not have sounded the lad out about the move before we put the bid in? How is it that we can have a bid accepted by Mptherwell, and the player rejects it?

It's quite easy to reject a deal.

Anyone who would have sanctioned us paying this kid 20 grand a week needs to stop sniffing glue. Can you imagine the reaction from virtually every player we have on a contract .. they would all be expecting improved terms ffs. I know. I just would have thought there would have been conversations with the agent via Christie or something, or maybe Mikey Johnston would have been in his ear when they were away with the 21s.

It can't have been that hard to find out if he was interested in a move to Celtic. Maybe he was, but preferred to move to England which is why we tried to get him fairly early. As I said the whole thing has just been messy.

 

Must have known there was plenty of interest, played us like a fiddle.

I don't think going to the premiership for a team who will be fighting relegation all season is a good move for him. He'll be playing for Rangers or Aberdeen within the next 5 years...

The club fronted up the cash so can't have a go at them for that. Putting out a tweet mid-negotiation and letting him string us along for the last 4 days was a faux pas though.

Hopefully some lessons learned.

Going forward:

• Tell the agent he's not welcome at Celtic Park again.
• Tell Christie to get him to *.
• Get moving on other targets, we've wasted valuable time in dealing with these bawbags, we can't afford any more * about with qualifiers round the corner
