I think the question probably led Brown to mention appearances. I don't think he'll have any inside track on the negotiations.

Is it just me or does make you doubt his faith in his own ability?

You could interpret it either way - cynical view is he doesn't feel confident he can play his way in. Positive outlook is that he wants to continue playing week in week out like he was at Motherwell because it's bringing the best out of him.

Maybe he is waiting until after the CL and EL draws and if its easy teams he will sign so he can show his skills in Europe.

And that’s a question that should be put to our management to be fair. I though by now we would have had defenders sorted in place and ready to be signed.

Maybe we are doing things in the background but I’m not holding my breath.

I think they’re both the same thing, he want’s to play every week but doesn’t feel like he’s good enough to, so stick in the contract.

Playing devil's advocate here. He's 19 years old, at 19 I didn't know what I wanted for lunch.

Maybe his parents have no idea about the business side of football either and therefore he has relied on this agent to deal with things after recommendations by fellow players. Then when we've went public, he's shat it and demanded that he takes over as he doesn't want to miss out on the move.

All supposition on my part and it could be totally wrong but that might be how it's played out.

Alternatively, when I was 19 I thought I 100% knew everything and was a headstrong wee * who was sure about everything.

I quite miss that feeling :56::56:

Now you're a 30-something headstrong wee * that is sure about everything? :fear: :84:

That's not necessarily unrealistic though, as Broony said you can't expect that at Celtic and as an 18y/o he knows that he won't be high up the pecking order. Absolutely no need for him or his agent to demand/ask for guaranteed game time though..

If it's not money or status related, and purely a developmental motive, then it's a good attitude from the lad.

Question on the inside sometimes now but :56:

I’m not disagreeing but it shows a lack of confidence and wanting to skip the hard work and create shortcuts for yourself.

Yeah I'm not wholly convinced myself, just trying to give him the benefit of the doubt. Certainly not the most promising start to his Celtic career if the deal goes through..

He just needs to look at the like of Christie, Tierney and McGregor to see what's possible with the right work rate.

Aye, definitely mate. It’s screaming to me that he thinks he’s just had a decent few months and will get found out.

So trying to get a peak players wages and guarentees he’ll play before we find that out.

Whether that’s true or not, * knows but it’s put a lot of doubt in my mind.

It's first need reported that wages were the issue. Now, they are not, and some are rightly wondering if some damage control from the agent took place. I'll be livid if the guy signs and gets more than 8K.

I can see why you think that, but like I said you could flip that on its head and say he knows that this stage of his development is key, and without regular game time he might stagnate - he's just trying to focus on developing his game and he's enjoying first team football.

Who knows, but there's no better way to improve than to go to a bigger club with better players, coaches and facilities around you. I wouldn't be surprised if we loaned him out tbh.

My point is I don’t think that’s flipping, I think that means he doesn’t think he’s good enough to earn that game time on his own so is trying shortcuts to get there.

At the age of 19, I was a train driver, and at the age of 19, my dad already this * talking here running around the house to take care off.

I am not saying you were spoiled or stupid, quite the opposite. A 19 year old is not that dumb *, you probably didn't need to take bold decisions or big risks at that age, if you had, this ability certainly would have been tested, like it was to me and my dad.

This * certainly knows what he was doing by allowing the agent to bullshit.
