I’m not really sure being a joiner and playing football is a fair comparison tbh - two very, very different industries. My point was that Celtic, like you said, are a huge club. Had I been him I’d realise that I wouldn’t be in a position to demand my own terms at all. To play for a club the size of Celtic is a privilege and a huge opportunity to play at the highest level in the CL and further your own career - if you want to look at it that way.

In terms of the money, what’s he on now? No chance is he on more than a grand a week, in fact probably much less, so to receive wages that are way in excess of that would probably change his life. I get the draw of the big chequebook of English football, and I get that that is his agent’s motivation, but to disrespect Celtic at the final hurdle - especially when you don’t hold any cards? I’m not really sure that’s the best way to endear yourself to anyone going forward

See if this was McGinn and we offered up the right money in time.....this wouldn't be happening..

This is why we should snap up Tim's when we have the chance. McGinn. McCarthy. Snodgrass etc etc..

Would all of signed on the dot by now in the same circumstances..

Aye I reckon 3 million is probably overpriced but just because we are paying over the odds on a transfer fee that doesn't mean we need to compound that by also giving him 15k a week (about 16 times what he is getting). If, in a years time, he is still improving then aye pay him more but in the meantime not 15k a week, he has simply done nothing to justify that level of wage. The other problem in simply giving him that amount is what do we do when the young talent we already have at the club start asking for a wage increase as well, because they see him getting wages like that ?

This kid is a prospect - not a sure thing at all. We have made a BIG offer to his parent club which was accepted, and then I'm sure a very good offer based on his age and experience.

If that doesn't suit him then that's up to him.

He may make it big, he may not make it at all. If he chose us he would have a good club willing to develop him and nurture his talent. If he goes to the EPL he will make more money on his current contract but will in most circumstances not be given the time to come through as they need instant success.

We were Celtic yesterday, we are Celtic today and we will be Celtic tomorrow. We will always be Celtic, regardless of whichever personnel come and go. I couldn't give a * about McGinn or this guy or anyone else who decides not to come here.

Because Motherwell made it public I’m sure his agent would have came out, I’m glad the club has done it for once.

Damned if they do damned if they don’t.

For me I think they have done the right thing.

So why would he sign for us then? If he plays in a much better league then?

Did I say anything about Harper? No

Sounds more like the boy or his agent are getting a bit ahead of themselves here. My moneys on the agent.

Personally I would just retract the offer and move on to other targets. Don’t wait around to see if he gets offered better elsewhere or not.

I actually think missing out on McGinn has been a bit of a catalyst for this transfer. The board really don’t want to be seen missing out on talented Scottish players playing in the SPFL again.

Probably also why we’ve been talking about it on Twitter. Like is saying ‘we did everything we could’.

Let's hope we have someone better lined up, and we end up thanking our lucky stars that we missed out on him.

Happy with this falling through. I want our first signing to be a CB. We do not need an attacking midfielder badly enough to overspend on him. Jullien in, please.

I’m going with my gut here but there is no way he signing now. Celtic would not have put that out on Twitter if he had any intention of signing.

Also playing devils advocate, if your potential future employer put a social media comment out like that about you would you want to go and work for them? Probably not.

This is dead in the water in my opinion.

Don't think it matters what Turnbull thinks of us now to he honest..

We clearly know he's never coming here which is why we've released those tweets in my opinion..
