Think the interest is genuine tbh a lot being made out it just go in at the £7m if that’s what they want tbh

He looks quality. My only worry is he doesn't really suit our transfer strategy as probably no resale value so this probably won't happen unfortunately. Can't see Pete punting £7m plus for a 26 year that he won't be able to sell for profit

2-3 years of solid performances and an epl mob will throw 10 mill on a 29 year old monster who is used to British football

Do you think so? I hope we do sign him but it would surprise me if we spent that on a 26 year old. Haven't really seen that strategy since MON days

I watched a highlights video of him(anyone can look good in those) but he looked pretty comfortable playing it out plus his height and power. Even if no one ever bids for him then we keep a solid defender as a constant part of our defence for the next 5 years. One champions league qualification in that time would cover anything spent on him

Hope we do get him as he looks big, powerful type. Looks a threat at set pieces aswell, something we have lacked for many seasons now. Fingers crossed

    * resale value. A good defender we could keep for many years is what this club needs. Stability and experience.

Missing the point here mate. I do agree with YOU but we haven't spent that kind of money on a player above 25 since MON days so it would surprise me if this is true. Hopefully it will be as it would be nice to see us mix it up a bit with transfers. Wee bit experience mixed with few younger ones in Turnbull etc

Exactly, 7 million is a great deal for a 26 year old defender with good pedigree/experience at the peak of his career.

Disagree. The way transfer fees have gone, an EPL team would happily spend £15m+ on a 28/29 year old at his peak. And thats being conservative

On the side note, signing a player around 28 could work in our favour- purely from us fans perspective- a few good season would see him in his 30's and teams would be less likely to buy someone north of 30. Note I said 'around 28' - The lad in question only 26 so wouldn't fall in this category

We need to get away from this resale value * not every player has to have this the board need to understand this. £7m for this guy get him on a 4 or 5 year deal 2 good seasons and he hankers for a move down south you will double yer outlay if they do want “resale”

It would surprise me as well, but we should start doing this. Long-term thinking of the club's performance in any and all competitions.

If we consistently qualify for the CL we dont really need to worry about resell value of our signings.
