    He hit Brendan Rodgers (Derry) at the throw-in in a McKenna Cup final a couple of years ago. Rodgers needed 14 stitches. Harte said it was "accidental".

    Not a surprise that Dublin cruised into the Leinster Final yesterday against Kildare. More surprised though with just how poor Kildare have been given the strong summer they had just last year.

    With how they have played in Leinster they for sure have some serious regrouping to do if they want to make the last 8 again this summer.

    Saw them beat us in qualifiers at Owenbeg last year. Was handy enough in the end but they were very "cute" with the tactical fouling. Disappointing performances this year as you say.

    Disgrace. Marginally harsher punishment than you would get for a high tackle which can very often be accidental. It seems the GAA do not want to stamp out eye gouging and this new offence of trying to rip out a players gum shield. This punishment will barely cause a ripple in McCann's and Tyrone's championship ambitions. Once again the GAA have failed to protect its players.

    I suppose we can at least be thankful that Tyrone are not appealing it as it would probably be reduced to one match ban or possible he night have got off scot free. Though I'm sure if they thought they had more meaningful matches on the horizon they probably would appeal
