Roddick was world number 1 and 4 time Grand Slam finalist, he didn’t do that with just a serve. Agassi won a Slam in 2003, he wasn’t that much ‘past it’

As alluded to it was a much weaker era so Roddick’s achievements need to be put into perspective.

Laver, McEnroe, Sampras, Lendl, Borg and Connors all played in a poorer era as well.

This is the golden generation, no other era has had 3 players at the level of Nadal, Djokovic and Fed.

The two best clay court players in the world going toe to toe for all the marbles. It's hard to bet against Rafa winning it for the 12th :eek1: time but I fancy Them to win a set and push him hard. Rafa in 4.

Very high standard this final, little signs that mental energy is being drained out of Thiem. And Nadal knows this.

Thiem plays a set of tennis like that and still loses 6-3. Nadal is a * wall at Roland Garros.

Gutted I'm missing this final. Would like to see Thiem win, just for the upset.

Nadal is just so mentally strong, one of the few guys who never feels sorry for himself when things are going against him or gets in a huff, just gets on with it and digs down deep.
