Henrik Larsson

The thing that sticks out for me is Samuel Eto’o talking about what Larsson taught him on the training pitch, Rooney talking about him teaching him how to head a ball (and * me for a year afterwards he was finding space and doing it a * lot).

I think if people in our team can’t learn off of Henrik Larsson it’s down to them. Higher class players than them have been shown a lesson by him.

 

As you say, he can only teach them, they have to learn.
Some of his timing to find space & his interactions on the field with certain players was immaculate, near telepathic at stages & that is possibly unteachable.

But I have no doubt he can learn them a lot & the excellence might follow.

As someone said earlier, he would be shielded from criticism by his position in the pecking order, however it wouldn’t go unnoticed & hopefully it’s for the right reasons, which can only benefit us.
Are there any real downsides to giving it a go?
How can anyone not want him back home ?

 

I would dread to see him come back. Image he becomes a figure of ridicule like Neil Lennon has become with some. It will go from unacceptable to boo him to acceptable to laugh at him. If staying with us while your life is threatened doesn't excuse you then I don't know what would

 

That’s what I’d be scared of as well. We all laughed at Sevco fans disrespect of Ally McCoist - one of their biggest legends.

This would feel like more of an appointment to get fans inside than about coaching credentials in all honesty.

 

I really do hope if we appoint Henrik as a coach then it is because of his abilities not because of sentiment to get the fans on board. Henrik has failed as a manager so far if we are to be honest but that doesn't mean he can't be a great coach. There are plenty in the game that are fantastic coaches but wouldn't even contemplate being a manager. I want to see us starting to sign quality players, CL qualifiers in 4 weeks. The longer we don't sign players, get linked to passed players coming back as players or coaches the more it stinks of the cheap option by Lawell and there lays a poor season ahead. Those of the older generation will remember, Macari, Dalgliesh, Mowbray, sentiment doesn't always win

 

Edouard could learn a lot from him

 

Would be brilliant to get Henrik and Johan in, Larsson's knowledge and understanding of the game will be a huge help to our frontline and then we already know Johan is an excellent assistant and coach.

 

Coaching is entirely different to management. He didn’t do well as a manager but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t have anything to offer as a coach.

Plenty of well regarded coaches at the top clubs in the world have failed when trying to go it alone in management.

 

Thats the thing we have 4 weeks to bring in a new backline

 

Anyone who think that Henrik wouldn’t be a good Coach for our strikers are deluded

Manager though is questionable, even though the Swedish league is a nightmare to be a manager in.

If it appeases us & works then win / win.

Maybe its the cynic in me but think this is a move to appease the fans when we have a poor transfer window .

 

I find this quite bizarre thinking because, for one, would it * work and Lawwell (as much of a ringpiece as he is) isn’t * stupid.

And 2, I don’t think he gives two * about fan appeasement.

 

So why didn’t he then?
If I went & coached them & they won the next game 9-0 & I loved the club I would be straight back, maybe he just doesn’t.
