UCL Campaign 2019/2020

Qualifying for any European tournament this season will be an achievement in itself. Again, this is a transitional year with likely many ins and outs.

 

So true, when all's said and done, I don't think anyone is expecting Lenny to change our European fortunes so soon.

The only thing we know that is guaranteed is we are bound to have either a trip to Qarabag or Astana in July or August

 

This is what the pots would be for group stages if just champions were allowed

I'd expect us to * it up this summer and end up in the Europa. I wouldn't be too gutted as we'd have more chance of winning some games and progressing out the group.
As long as we secure the league and make some decent signings and play some nice football i'll be happy.

No. Its actually what the next seasons Group stages pots would look like if ONLY the champions of each country were allowed to enter Champions league plus including the holders of CL and EL in their current coefficient amount so Celtic would be directly entered into GS and also into Pot 2.
I used the current amount of teams that have been allocated but corrected it for just being champions allowed.

 

I'll take just to get into the group stages right now.

 

The rules seem to change all the time regarding this sort of thing so does anyone know if our first qualifying round second leg early next month will automatically be played at home as we are seeded or is it down to the draw.

Don't see why not.
Even allow the top nations to have their 4 entries and make them all play the qualifiers - would then make the qualifiers a greater/more interesting part of the tournament and the winners get the final 6 places. Sure you may end up with 3 spanish and 3 english, but at least the champions are all in there.

 

There's an old saying about aunties, uncles and spherical objects that comes to mind...

 

And if it is to be that, knowing our luck we'll get Liverpool, Real Madrid & Galatasary.

 

Its first team drawn that plays at home first unless teams agree to change,
Draw is on 18th June and Celtic are top seeds

 

It would be underachieving if we didn’t at least make the EL groups.

Guys who’ve been there and done it. With guys like Griffiths, Sinclair, Ntcham, Shved etc also in contention.

 

Since the champions route was introduced in the Europa League qualifying theres absolutely no circumstances where we shouldnt be in the groups

 

If we get knocked out of 1st rd then we will play one of the losers from same CL round or one of the teams from prelim rd in CL.
There is a slight possibly, assuming we get knocked out of 1st rd CL , that we could get a bye into 3rd rd of EL
