faster than Lustig? are we talking about the same guy here?

Just from memory the past couple of months, he got done by two Liverpool youth players in Kent x2(then faked an injury) and Liam Miller (Killie game), then Omenga (Hibs), and McLennan would have skinned him as well if he wasn't injured like the last time we played the sheep. I'm just scared that if we do renew his contract he will still be in the starting xi week in week out when we need better, especially in Europe. I don't blame him for wanting to stay- what other club will want to pay over 15 grand a week for him? If he went back to Sweden he would be lucky to get 5- the same applies to Nir Bitton

I do agree with you on Ralston though, guy has a rush of blood to the head anytime he get's in the final third with the ball.

Heh when I said faster I meant with the ball, Toljan I'm sure is faster but his distribution is terrible, which is a shame cause when he's not under pressure he does have the skills to make us see why he became a Dortmund player.

I read Malmo were offering him big money as he's on a free. He's very well respected in Sweden as he will be here in two years time when he lifts the 10th ;)

Absolutely no problem keeping Lustig as back up. Dependable when called upon, gets the club and the importance of 10. He also has a wealth of experience and an infectious personality, you can't have enough of that around the club.

I agree, I feel if we resign Lustig then our search for a true first choice right back is virtually over

Amazing how much confidence some folk have when accusing Lustig of feigning injury. We can all see that he has lost acceleration and is vulnerable to pace; but casually stating that he feigns injury is far beyond anything currently supported by any kind of evidence.

Folk forget how injury prone he was when he was good. He often didn't last the 90.

Clearly fakes injuries when a winger rips him a new one. Explain PSG away then? * was at fault for their first, had no heart and took the easy route of watching from the bench. Did it against Turkey when he sold the jerseys for Calhanoglu and went off injured when he was getting the run about 2nd half, the two games against the huns confirmed what we already knew. Of course he is struggling to run, so I understand why he does it, but it begs the question as to why we haven't brought in a better right back in the past 3 years. Lennon preferred Matthews over him until he got sold, so highly doubt he rates him that highly (also saying he is our weakness to the hibs players)

And the Barcelona victory at CP?

He's always had this problem, even when he was still very, very good. Five minutes with google and you'll find a million people on here back then admitting that he [was] a very good player but asking what the point is if he can't be relied on to last the 90.

Even if this was a new thing, which it absolutely isn't, there would be a million more parsimonious explanations than accusing him of faking injuries, such as things to do with an ageing body.

Be no new RB coming in then. Lustig, Hendry and possibly Izaguirre will all be starting our first 2 or 3 CL qualifiers.

To be honest, I want lustig to stay but only as backup.

I love Lustig but I'm disappointed with this. In all likelihood there's not going to be a new RB.

Lustig as a back up for a year? i'd be ok with it, send Ralston out on loan for the year and if he comes back a better player he can serve as back-up the next year

A 2 year deal makes no sense for us and Lustig, he's reluctant to sit around for a year as back-up, what would make him sit around for two? unless of course, he's been told he'll still be first choice, which is a terrifying thought.

Good business as long as we have a first team replacement coming in.
