Mental that I think of big Mick more fondly than Van Dijk..

It’s the iconic moments mate, McManus was involved in a ton of them. Van Dijk was just an exceptional player but didn’t have that.

Same as Wanyama, what do you think of when you think of him? Barca. Iconic moments mate.

Aye, that’s why I tend to leave the Lions out of stuff, I’m aware I’ve never seen anything but their absolute best bits.

An exceptional talent who strolled through games for us. Unfortunately, I don't think he ever cared or 'got it'. It was hard to ever feel any emotional attachment to him, despite his obvious quality.

Plus the fact their achievements are that incredible it’s pointless trying to compare other players to them.

They’re untouchable when it comes to our history no matter what we do in the future.

See that’s something I’ve never agreed with. People used to say the same about Sammy or Dembele. Being relaxed and languid in your style, confident in your ability and not all blood and thunder doesn’t mean you don’t get it, it’s just the style.

See the way he still talks about us, he * gets it, he cares. * Klopp was saying him and Robbo never shut the fuc up about us :56:

A lot of vastly over exaggerated opinions in here based on what he’s become after leaving Celtic. If VVD is the best player you’ve ever seen play for Celtic then you’ve not been a Celtic fan for long.

Me personally, I knew he’d coast the Premiership but he’s nowhere near a Lubo or a Henrik.

I thought we were talking solely about defenders/CB's?

Maybe I am doing him an injustice there, I don't know much about him off the field. It probably was his style, but also his personality too. He doesn't come across as a man who gets too worked up about anything.
I haven't much interest in Liverpool (apart from hating them), and I have only watched him against Barcelona where he was awful in the first leg, but I am glad to hear he is considered one of the best players in the world.

The Bear Aitken played a similar style as Virgil in the way he would collect the ball and move forward into space with it. Turning defence into attack. Roy wasnt the quickest and not as big a threat at attacking set pieces but a Celtic great.

Big Elliott was immense and a mountain of a man. Signed from Bari and his time in Italy gave him great experience at reading the game before him. Great in the air and a danger from set pieces.

I remember being absolutely gutted when we lost Marc Reiper to injury. Cultured is a very good football word that I would describe his play and rarely panicked. He played in a period when 90% of SPL defenders would just blooter the ball anywhere. Reiper was too cool for that and last I heard he had a pub that the Copenhagen CSC was based at.

    Mjalby was Dolph Lungren esque
and scared * out of strikers domestically and throughout Europe. A warrior with a great understanding of the game and always partnered brilliantly with any team mate. Epitomised the bottle that MON's team had in abundance. Absolutely brilliant.

A man I would have loved to see in the hoops a bit longer than he spent looking in the mirror. Big Swiss defender Ramon Vega was solid and skilful in 2000/01 treble winning season. On loan from Spurs and a stick on for a permanent switch but with so much money swirling around CP, he thought he'd get his arm in but Martin didn't budge. No surprise he is a successful money magnate.

Definitely, guys laid back as *, I think the only time I seen him get out of that sort of style was his last game for us where he was trying too hard to do everything and it ended up * it for us.

Said he was just desperate to give us CL football as a parting gift.
