It’s probably all still guesswork at the moment. I remember we were all nearly certain Owen Coyle was going to be unveiled about 3 days before we got confirmation it was Rodgers. Nearly sure there were ‘Welcome Owen’ threads n all :smoke:

    I understand you now, mate.

I do still think Gerrard might turn out to be a decent manager (the jury's still out on that one) and if he is, 10iar would be at risk under Moyes. I really do believe that, mate. Saying "wave bye bye" is a bit dramatic, but I honestly think there's a risk there.

Said it before to Pad, I would not be averse to that at all. A million times the manager Moyes is.
Long term we wouldn't be playing the Celtic way, so I wouldn't want him here for years and years; but for 2 years to get 10iar safely over the line and get us back to punching above our weight at home in Europe, I think he'd be a really good appointment.

Don't get me wrong, I'd rather have Rafa, who can do everything Allerdyce can do when needed but also play good football domestically as well; but realistically Rafa isn't going to come.

Sam Allerdyce would not be a bad appointment here and now.

Give us Mourinho or Benitez, just use the 9 million we got for Fraudgers, anyone else is a risk.

Neither, it's a limited past period 'never' (period defined and delimited by Rodgers' time here) . :giggle1:

FWIW it's also mostly wrong. Rodgers was backed like no Celtic manager since MON. The lack of signings were mostly due to him selfishly bringing in his useless mate to head our scouting operations.

I wouldn't say he was "backed like no other manager since MON". I'm pretty sure he ideally would have wanted more backing in the transfer market than a constant flow of loan signings.

Yes he was granted our record transfer fee to sign Édouard. But he also made is our largest ever profit margin ( buying and selling Dembelle). Some of his signings were bollocks (Gamboa, Compper, Musonda, Arzani) - so it could be said that his signings were not always the greatest. But I don't think the board sufficiently backed him financially. Not considering the money the club was taking in during his time there. It's obvious that was probably the main reason that he left

And it could be that the board didnt want to throw money at him anymore because most of his signings were bollocks

Three years ago after Deila, Moyes was the one I thought was our best option from the list of 'realistic' candidates at the time. David Wagner was my hope, then he who shall not be named was a quality left field appointment. A lot has changed in three years, * sake a lot changes in football in 3 months.
In the 3 years Moyes had his unsuccessful stint at Sunderland & to be fair saved West Ham from relegation but he's been out of the game for over a year now, you've got to worry about his current contacts, knowledge, rustiness.... He's not the worst option we've been linked with, not at all but after the way we went out and made a statement with our last appointment I'm hoping we will do so again.

So hard to filter through all the bullshit & wind ups and determine who is a real option and who isn't. Maybe thats a good thing as if it isn't to be Lennon he's not being undermined heading into a huge game.
I have a feeling it's Moyes or Lennon. I'd love Rafa or Jose. I just hope whoever it is hits the ground running. There's no time for easing your way in this summer at all. Please Celtic get it right.

Or that they knew he was making arrangements to move. There was a rumour that he was ready to go to Leicester earlier but the helicopter crash delayed everything.

The "it all happened so quick :87:" line was nonsense, that had been lined up beforehand. He was down and stoating about their pitch by the lunchtime.

They never backed the snake in a good few windows, they never strengthen from a position of strength this has been shown countless times with managers down the years.

I think you’re wrong RR, he’s talking about other managers. :84::lager:
