Director of football operations

With a DOF in place it gives you much wider scope in Coach/Manager recruitment.

Ideally they would know and understand Scottish Football, media etc.. and would take a lot of heat off of a foreign coach trying to learn a new culture, working environment and the unique expectations of managing us.

Freeing the manager up to concentrate on getting the best from the players. Most coaches wouldn't take the job without that kind of infrastructure. And tbf some won't take the job with that kind of setup in play, but they are becoming less common.

Jock Brown does? Literally don't know one Tim that wouldn't rip off their ears and shove them down his throat. Just to make doubly sure you didn't need to hear his stupid insincere voice ever again.

 

Having a director of football depends almost entirely on the working relationship between the DOF, and the manager.

If we ever utilised one again, we’d need to avoid any crossover in responsibilities, along with a good working relationship. I’d much prefer a DOF who worked far in the background, dealing with recruitment and scouting, in line with the current manager’s vision, and with an eye on our future.
