The one thing that seemed to kill his career here was choosing to rep Costa Rica and Rodgers for some reason didn't seem to take that very well.

I can't remember the full story but I think he went out on social media or some interview blaming Rodgers for promising something and then going back on it?

Don't think he was/is the answer but it was criminal the game time he got under Rodgers, not saying he should of been first choice over Lustig, but maybe playing him against your Hamilton's and Dundee's at home instead of away to Bayern and Barcalona would have made more sense.

One of several players signed by Rodgers then never given a proper chance.

I think it was the Costa Rica thing, I think he claimed Rodgers said it was up to him and he could go if he wanted and he did then Rodgers snubbed him after that. He probably thought Rodgers never minded but in reality Rodgers didn't want him to go but must not have told him.

Whether that is true or not there is no doubt something happened because he looked a decent player overall in the few chances he did get to play the past couple of years. As someone else said not saying he should have started ahead of Lustig but given the sheer number of games we play and the performances he did put in when he did play he certainly should have played more.

I am totally not surprised that a man who does this turns out to be a * rat.

Anyone remember when his last game was?

Think he only made a handful of appearances this season.

Didn't see him at the celebration yesterday as far as I can remember.

Should have at least received a medal if Compper received one.

    Will surely be released.

Don't believe he was handled all that well and end result just wasn't good enough.

Good Luck to him. Hope it all goes well in the future.

I didn't see him at the after match celebrations on the pitch no and as you say when the likes of Compper were out there it does beg the question where was Gamboa. He did at least play in a half dozen or so games early on in the season. He is out of contract this summer so you would have to assume he will be moving somewhere else on a free.

Probably played about 3 games in a row for us at most, would have been nice to see him given a longer period but I’m not sad he’s gone

Expensive mistake. Ours not his. He always looked happy and seemed like a nice guy but was never convinced by the little I saw.

    Wish him all the best.

Always seemed to be thrown in unexpectedly in big European games without any game time under his belt, his career was over after choosing to play for Costa Rica in the Gold Cup rather than sit on the bench for us (which is understandable) then scanting anton rodgers was the last straw, legend

CELTIC defender Cristian Gamboa could be set for a shock move to Danish champions FC Copenhagen after rejecting a return to his homeland in Costa Rica,

The 29-year-old didn’t make a single appearance for the Hoops in 2019 and made just 16 league starts in his three year stint in Glasgow.

He’s out of contract at Parkhead and will certainly not be offered a new deal by the champions.

Gamboa was offered a return to Costa Rica by 29-times champions Deportiva Alajuelense.

He left Costa Rica nine years ago, ironically after being rejected by Deportiva Alajuelense, where he had a trial.

But he opted to reject the chance of returning home in a bid to stay in Europe and has been targeted by Copenhagen, which could see him feature in next season’s Champions League.

He’s won 70 caps for his country, but failed to ever nail down a regular spot at Celtic, where he was usually back-up to Mikael Lustig, who could also leave Glasgow this summer.

Gamboa has scored just one goal in his club career – for Norwegian club Fredrikstad eight years ago, but has netted three for his country.

Like a FIFA player with the sprint button stuck down. All pace, no composure.

A waste of money on our part but I don't blame Gamboa for coming.
