Well I suppose this is the place for unpopular opinions, and I'm guessing this will be pretty unpopular.

As a bonus, if there's ever a thread for * stupid opinions, you won't have to think of one, you can just re-post.

I wouldn't go as far as telling Leigh to * off, but situation is getting a bit frustrating because we could have really done with another option up front these past couple of months. Hopefully he'll be right to play by the start of next season.

But that is the fault of the management, not Leigh. Players being unavailable is a frustrating part of football.

We stuck by John Kennedy and looked after him for years when he was trying to come back from his knee injuries.

We should absolutely stand by Leigh Griffiths, too.

We are a club founded with a social conscience. Some things take precedence over winning football matches and one of those is supporting a player that has given us plenty, who just so happens to be going through a turbulent period in his life.

Any talk of anything other than supporting Griffiths, is crass and insensitive.

Not his fault we didn’t have back up and I know your not suggesting that. Leigh is employed by Celtic and that is why Celtic have a responsibility of care with Griff. Lad was/is obviously in a bad place and needs support and motivation and our club should be his biggest inspiration for his recovery. He hasn’t chosen to be ill and he will come through it but needs patience. Patience is the biggest factor for me with recovery of mental health because there are many bumps in the road. He is one of our own and should be treated like that.:50:

I don’t live in the uk and I don’t read the tabloids. But there is a big difference between a physical and a mental injury. I will say though that mental injuries are much more self inflicted. The issues come from within and the healing must come from within.

I hope he gets better but how long is too long in your opinion? If he’s not ready by the start of the following season would you keep him around?

Looks like you’re all just getting offended and taking it personally instead of thinking logically about the situation. You lot are acting like he just died and I’m banging his missus :56:. I didn’t say it was a choice, but certainly some people can go through situations and not get affected the same way as other people. It has a lot to do with how you interpret things and how much you let them affect you. Yes past experiences come into play too and usually you heal by thinking about these things in different ways, or forgiving people or forgiving yourself etc anywho that’s my extremely unpopular opinion :giggle1:

Why? At some point in the future you’d have to admit we are not helping him anymore? Surely he’ll be back before that.

Obviously we only know success, so let’s keep it that way. Whatever it takes.

As much as Lenny was right in many things he said, i don't think it has done him any good personally, at this point in time.

For me he didn't come across well tbh.

Haven’t seen it yet but saw a few comments about it. Probably ill advised but will give it a view.

Mental illness can be much more problematic than a physical illness and it definitely doesn’t mostly come from within. Usually a * of a lot of factors at play in and around the outside and mainly due to the behaviour of others. Your 100% right about healing from within but your wide of the mark in your assessment and I know that it takes you to have been there to truly understand people’s suffering with what is perceived as mental illness. It is the hardest thing to diagnose and the toughest one that people try to keep hidden.
