Biggest reason I don't want lennon is he allowed the players away on a jolly boys jaunt away just before the rangers game or even fact treble treble is achieved guys as much a dinosoar as any other coach if he thinks that's fine.... Its his biggest problem thinking that's lifestyle is okay as a sportsman

If it was like a general election and a 'First past the post' system then Lennon would be 2nd only to Burke's shot v Livingston.

Don't know what's more of a riddy. The fact we offered him the chance to become Celtic manager or the fact he knocked us back.

Rafa is probably just using Celtic as a bargaining tool in his Newcastle negations. I * hate Newcastle

Agree about ripping Lennon, * disgrace seeing it. He's served our club well and is a Celtic man through and through. Do I want him after hearing the likes of Jose or Rafa, do I * but if he gets the job, then he'll get my backing. Will be good to see him with the 10IAR if we do get it. For what he's went through plus the Huns will * hate it.

Regarding the remuneration packages for the likes of Benitez - a lot depends on the willingness to invest the compensation received for Rodgers, reported to be £9M - over a 3 year contract that's 3m/yr and coupled to the £2M+ already being paid to Rodgers, says we could easily afford whatever manager we wanted IF willing to make that re-investment. (and honestly, does not have to be all salary - as I posted previously heavy incentives for Champions League qualification make that return on investment extremely viable)
I honestly think that Desmond/Lawwell/board recognized the value of the investment in Rodgers BEFORE making that appointment - certainly paid for himself with the season tickets and Champions League income; not a reach to think they might consider that given the 'free' money of the compensation, it would be money well spent to get in someone of that calibre (Benitez). The Rat leaving may have absolutely made this possible but again ONLY if the board considers this 'found money' to be used for that purpose.

As for "would Rafa be content with this job?" ........... I would suggest that (unlike Rodgers) he would actually welcome coaching a league-leading, trophy-winning side that is playing in Europe - vs a mid-table (at best) team with no viable hope of anything other, even with serious investment in the team. Let's be honest, Newcastle will NEVER be a top 6 team with Ashley holding the purse (and even if he wasn't they are still probably 5 years away from that level at absolute best case scenario)

Third - the support - as others have said, he would idolized here

So if I'm Rafa, I'm giving myself four check marks in the 'pro's' column - income, ability to win multiple trophies in domestic league, playing in Europe with the challenge to make us quite competitive there, at least for post-Christmas games, and adulation of the fans.

It's not as ridiculous as first thoughts might consider ..............
