I don't think his signing was a flop. He has played well and for most of the season was 1st pick when fit. I'm sure he will be happy with his season. 2 trophies (possibly 3) and 20 odd games. Only thing that would have been the same at Leicester is the manager.

No chance he was a flop, only reason he’s not playing just now is because Jozo and Ajer are the best pairing we’ve had at the back all season.

I’d happily take him back next season as long as we get in another experienced centre back for Europe.

BRENDAN RODGERS has revealed there's still a chance Filip Benkovic could return to Celtic next season.

The Croatian defender has been a huge hit during his loan stay at Parkhead this season.

But Rodgers disappointed Hoops fans when he confirmed he would bring the 21-year-old back to Leicester this summer.

However, the former Celtic boss has now admitted he would like Benkovic to return to Parkhead should he go out on loan again.

Speaking to the Sunday Mail, Rodgers said: "Filip's situation is one I'll look at.

"But there's no doubt that if I want him to go out on loan again, I'd want him to go to Celtic.

"Of course, I'll have a conversation with the player - I think he's a big talent.

"But we've got four really good centre-backs here with big experience in Jonny Evans, Harry Maguire, Wes Morgan and Caglar Soyuncu.

"Filip is a top-class young player but if he goes on loan again, I'd love him to return to Celtic.

"He needs to play and Celtic has been a great experience for him."

Benkovic has been forced to deal with injury this season and has found his playing time limited since Neil Lennon replaced Rodgers as Celtic's caretaker boss in February.

But he has still made 26 appearances in all competitions and scored two goals during his time with the Hoops.

Getting Benkovic for another season would be great, but i'd still want us to get a perm CB in.

Resigning a loan with this guy pretty much cements the suspicion that we are spending sweet * all in the summer.

Resigning izzy? Resigning another loan CB? Lustig probably getting an extension?

Great player but he isnt ours. But it saves the board the trouble of actually spending.

It'd be brilliant to get him back for another year. I think he's destined for big things.

    Is this a dream?

He takes Congerton to Leicester and is thinking about giving us big Benko back for next year.

Extending the loan deal would be one of the best bits of business we could do.

The alternative is an exact repeat of last season and inevitable failure to qualify.

If we get him on loan for another season and a proper first team centre half coming in we will be solid at the back. That’s something we haven’t had for a long time.

Ajer and Simunovic forming a good partnership, Benkovic back on loan plus hopefully spend good money on another, yeah, would be happy with that

That’s a given, I meant sold at centre half at the back for a long time.

Thing is the optimist in me thinks this will happen, bringing him back and signing another centre half to start plus a starting right back but the realist in me thinks we will loan him back and use Jack Hendry and give Lustig a new deal and we will be done then.

Would be happy enough with Lustig getting a new deal purely knowing he will be used as back up, please not Hendry though..... Ha. We should be spending big money on a right back this summer, no excuses
