Sad times if getting Hooper back at the end of his career is the best we can expect.

 

The type of mentality that brought Izzaguirre back to the club .
We need first team players , game changers. Quality not quantity.
We have three Strikers as it is ( Eddy , Bayo , Griffiths )
we play one up top plus we have Aitchison coming through. We don't
need "back up " strikers. Go out buy a star that is better than the other
three by all means. Not Hooper.

Great while he was with us but you need to move forward with manager and players...
We don’t need players (former or not) who want a final cosy deal because the English leagues aren’t working out for them any more.

It is a worrying indicator of Lennys vision for the future if this is an example.

I actually joked about this a while ago, Lennon bringing the band back together. When he was in charge we’d sometimes go stale and we’d be screaming out for squad rotation and he’d never do it. The same old faces would always start. Now he wants to bring guys from back then back again... watch Ledley get signed on a free too.

Looks like lazy journalism to me, putting 1 and 1 together because he supposedly wanted to bring him to Hibs and now he has become availible. There isnt one direct quote from Lennon saying that he wants him.

If we did want him then i wouldnt be overly opposed. Hooper is a good finisher and has clever movement. Even at 31 he wont have lost these attributes and i think he would still get us 10+ goals domestically, even coming off the bench.

Yes we should be looking to bring in as best quality as possible and i do hope we bring in better. but to begin the season with Edouard, Griffiths and Hooper is instantly an improvement on the squad we finished the season with.

To invite him to pre season training wouldnt be the worst idea. Im sure Lennon would be a good judge as to if Hooper would be deserving of a deal.

 

One of the reasons Lenny left is because he didnt feel he was getting backed and that the board were not matching his ambitions. Once Ledley was sold to palace, the writing was on the wall.

If you think this is his “vision” you are mistaken.

 

It made sense, in the sense that we desperately needed cover for Lb but we should have had that sorted before resorting back to a guy who was deemed not good enough a year prior.

 

Wouldn't overly mind as a third choice striker to be honest..
