    GRRM is a world class fantasy novelist who has sold millions of books worldwide. He spent years putting together the details behind the stories in the earlier seasons.
    The last few have been thrown together in a few months by HBO screen writers.
    There was always going to be a decline in standard and I think it is becoming more obvious.
    Visually it’s still stunning and still worth watching but just not up to the same high standards of the first few seasons.

    I wonder what changes GRRM will make, if and when he ever finishes the books. Can't see him tackling the Long Night the same way they did in the show.

    Agree with that, they could never keep up with GRRM. I’m still surprised to see that vast decline in writing though, particularly in series 8. It feels as though they don’t give a * anymore.

    Thought the episode was going rather well, then they went for the shock of the ambush and killing a dragon, which is nowhere near as impactful as the first, it actually felt rather insulting as if they only did it because they knew there would be some backlash for the last episode.

    And they kill Missandei, which begs the question, where and how the * do they capture her and no one else?, surely you'd capture and kill the army that's flapping away in the water as their ships sink?.

    Two episodes left to save it's reputation and with everything they were hinting at in this episode, I don't see how it will be written well enough to work.
