Considering the championship is 46 games a season, even ignoring playoffs and cup games, that means hasn't even played 2 full seasons worth of games in a 3 season period. We have enough injury prone strikers without adding another.

Love hooper, been great for us but we don't need him now. Griffiths will be back soon and Hoopers past it. Its obvious hes now regretted his decision to leave us.

We seem to have a serious problem with injuries to our forwards.

At Ibrox in December, I'd rather have had Hooper playing up front than Mikey Johnstone.

But if he were to come back it would be on the understanding he most definitely is third choice and his wages and game time will reflect that. Those are terms I'm not sure he'd agree to, particularly the wages.

And now they've decided he isn't good enough, so he shouldn't be good enough for us.

If he was happy to play back up sure, he's worth looking at.

He should be made aware Eddie is clearly no. 1 and unless we signed players in positions to allow a regular 3-5-2(ish) formation he's stuck on the bench.

And that’s why we don’t listen to the English’s opinions mate.

Lest you do a Neil Warnock and think Van Dijk isn’t good enough for QPR :56:

As a 3rd choice, if we’re investing in other areas of he squad, I’d have no issues.

Aye that’s a good point but for 15-20 bit part games a season as a back up I wouldn’t be against it. Only, and only, if we’re spending heavily on the weaker parts of our first team that we need to get a bit creative to plug gaps in the squad.

Our problem is more often than not our strikers all get injured at the same time, meaning we need a back up that can be called upon at any moment. Hooper, even when he was here before, was out a fair bit and going on the stats above you can pretty much rule him out for 1/3 of each season. To me that's not worth this risk as there is too much chance of him also being crocked when we'd be needing him. It'd be a waste of a wage in my opinion.

We spent 3m on a striker in January who is here for 4 seasons.

Im actually genuinely worried about this signing. Where is this guy? and what is he doing? Why is he nowhere near the squad or spoken about since Brendan left. A total Marvin Compper all over again it would seem.

That was the thing about Brendan, some of his signings were well dodgy and not cheap either.

i.e Gamboa, Hendry, Compper, Musonda, and that guy that we're just speaking about.

We could have saved all that money and signed Paddy Roberts with it

He's injured just now. He'll get his chance in the summer friendlies.

If he was happy to play backup to Griff and Eddie, I wouldn't be against it.

He got injured on international duty, I think Bayo and Eddy would be a strong partnership.
Hooper, sod that. I bet his salary expectations are 15k plus (on 36k a week at Wednesday) . For 4th choice we may as well use a youngster or stick Jamesy up front.

GARY HOOPER is on Neil Lennon’s transfer wishlist IF he becomes Celtic’s new permanent manager.

SunSport understands the free agent striker would be keen on a stunning Parkhead return.

Hooper has been released by English Championship side Sheffield Wednesday after three and a half years, scoring 31 goals in 88 games.

Lennon took him to Celtic in 2010 for £2.4million from Scunthorpe United and the frontman quickly established himself as a fans’ idol, ultimately delivering 82 goals from 137 appearances, winning two titles and two Scottish Cups.

Hooper, who turned 31 in January, scored in every competition, including the Champions League and Europa League, plus Old Firm derbies and a double in the 2013 Scottish Cup final triumph over Hibs.

He also memorably claimed all FIVE goals in a romp over Hearts in May, 2012 but was sold to the Canaries in 2013 for £5million.

Interim boss Lennon is still waiting to hear from major shareholder Dermot Desmond and chief executive Peter Lawwell whether he’ll be replacing Brendan Rodgers long-term.

But over the last month he’s still been working hard identifying potential signings, with Celtic – and whoever’s in the hotseat  – facing a huge rebuilding job in the summer.

Former Tottenham academy kid Hooper is precisely the kind of poacher Lennon believes the eight-in-a-row champs need to bolster their attack.

He'd be fine on a free as back-up for a year or two. Wouldn't spend any money on him but it'd make some sense on a free. Meh either way.
