    Bango.

I think he’d do a good job if he lands it. But if a higher calibre manager is available then fair enough, or if they want to take a bit of a punt on someone with a lot of potential (someone mentioned the Red Star manager) fair enough again.

We don’t need to denigrate Lennon’s work here to ‘one win 7 years ago vs Barca’ to do that though.

Absolutely not. Just pointing out that Wigan and Everton both deteriorated under Martinez.

Sion had already knocked us out - humiliated us, in fact. It should have been our second consecutive season without European group stage football of any description.

So I wasn’t criticising Lennon for beating Barca then? Thanks for clearing that up.

The only one being petty is you genuinely making * up then calling people lunatics but acting all offended when someone says something back.

    Get a grip.

And we recovered quite well from it, which was my point.

If I misconstrued anything then feel free to correct me.

I feel this will go the same way as your point about people using the Barca result as a criticism though.

Where did I say you were criticising Lennon for beating Barca? Completely different thing than saying using it as a criticism of Lennon.

Are you denying that out of everything people have said, all the reasons people that they have stated they want him to stay, you’re saying all of that is singularly down to him beating Barcelona? That; is using the result as a criticism against Lennon.

If you genuinely can’t understand what you’re doing then I apoligise but you do tend to be smarter than that.

I keep seeing this as a plus point for Lennon and it's confusing me. Yes we're further ahead, but given that we were on a 7 game winning run in the league before he took over, and since then we've played 6 league games and only won 4, I'd say it's more down to the Huns being pish and only winning 2 of their last 5 in the league.

Aye Rodgers is a * and he left us at the wrong time, but I think people are overlooking the fact that we were in fantastic form since coming back from the winter break. Our form (in terms of results) has slightly dipped since he left, not improved.

If we were to fail to get out of a group with Rennes and Udinese now, questions would be asked.

Udinese aren’t what they were back then with the likes of Handanovic and Di Natale mate. Think they’re more comparable back then to a Sevilla or something like that. Asamoah was in that team as well, cracking team back then.

Well all three teams have changed drastically since so I’m not sure how that’s relevant?

Udinese finished 3rd in Serie A that season and iirc needed a late enough goal in their stadium to knock us out.

Given where we were at the time in European terms, we did ok. Would have beaten Rennes twice as well only for a Cha blunder.

I’m not talking about just in here. I’m just meaning in general. From forums to social media to ex players.

We as a club should be getting the best possible manager we can. If Lennon was the absolute best candidate available to take us forward as a club then he should get the job in the summer even if he goes and loses on at Hampden and has a brutal end of the season.

On the other side, even if he goes and wins every game 5-0 with scintillating football he shouldn’t be given the job if he’s not the best candidate available.
