Hungary beating Croatia opens up the Welsh group a bit as well.

    Big result for Hungary.

Israel beating Austria is a bit of a shock as well. Zahavi with a hat trick.

Well, that was a letdown from some players that used to be reliable. Rakitić and Perišić need benched. Having class players is of no use when they just don't try.

Germany will rue getting shot of Boateng, Hummels and Müller at their peak.

I understand completely their squad needs freshened up but that was the case for the World Cup as well when he refused to take Sane.

Looks on the face of it to be a power play in an attempt to keep his job longer term.

Aye by all means go down a different route but to actually tell them they won't be picked again is mental..

Boatengs wouldn't get in a first team for me but all 3's experience is invaluable and Muller and Hummels should still probably be in the first team..

1 nil. Sane Germany deservedly go 1 up..

Hummels and Müller are both still world class IMO. Müller, in particularly, is only 29 despite being about for what seems like the last 3 decades.

Fantastic finish from Gnabry. Really poor defending from Van Dijk.

Mental and frankly disrespectful scrubbing off a guy with that pedigree at 29. Didn't even realise he was still that young..

    What a goal that was..

Holland are pish going forward, disgraceful that they've had to go back to an average player like Babel about 7 year after he was binned.

Unbelievable football from the Germans there..

Looked a strange setup but Lowe has done a number on Koeman here..

    Almost in again..

    Absolute hammering..

Playing some stuff, Holland are rattled - unable to hold the ball for 10 seconds and Germans pishing forward from all angles.

Think they were in desperate need of a freshening up. Boateng has looked over the hill for a while now, Hummels isn't as dominant as he used to be and he's painfully slow.

Muller is a weird one. Always been a big fan of him, but he's never been an incredible footballer in terms of his touch and technique. Just had a knack of being in the right place at the right time, in big games. But he's been under performing for a couple of years as well. 6 European goals in his past 3 seasons, 19 league goals since the start of the 2016-17 season.

I agree that it was weird to essentially retire them, though.

    Big Virgil having a stinker.

Playing like he did against St Johnstone and Hamilton Accies. Disnae quite cut the mustard against Sane and Gnabry.
