He looks really tired already. Can see how much hard work he's putting in.

OLIVIER NTCHAM made his Celtic comeback in a Lennoxtown bounce game against Morton this afternoon – but Tom Rogic didn’t feature.

Nine days before the Hoops face Rangers a side made up of fringe first team stars, players on their way back from injury and members of the youth team faced Jonatan Johansson’s men.

Ntcham played 45 minutes of the match – which Ton won 1-0 – as did Filip Benkovic who got more game time under his belt after coming on as a 73rd-minute sub against Dundee last Sunday after being out since January.

Ntcham hadn’t played since the 1-0 Old Firm defeat on December 29 due to a knee injury but could now be in contention for the Premiership clash against Gers on Sunday March 31.

Rogic has also been sidelined with a knee injury – which required an operation – and hasn’t played for Celts since the 4-3 Boxing Day win over Aberdeen.

He played in two Asian Cup games for Australia in January but hasn’t been seen in the hoops this year.

Parkhead boss Neil Lennon had indicated that he could get get time today but he didn’t feature in the match.

Instead, as his team-mates took on the Championship club he did running work on an adjacent pitch with the fitness staff.

The Aussie playmaker will step up his fitness over the coming week and will still hope to be involved at least at some point against Steven Gerrard’s men

Christie wasn’t involed after Lennon had confirmed the game against Rangers would come too soon for him.

We lost to Morton with Benkovic and Ntcham playing? Ffs.

Hopefully Rogic gets a run out for the reserves on 25th then..

CELTIC star Tom Rogic missed training today ahead of Sunday’s Old Firm clash with Rangers.

The Hoops hero was expected to be involved against Gers.

But the 26-year-old is now an injury doubt for the derby clash at Celtic Park.

SunSport understands Nir Bitton is also facing a race to be fit for the Scottish Premiership showdown showdown and has been doing rehab work at Lennoxtown this morning.

Speaking yesterday, Neil Lennon admitted Celts were boosted by the return of Australian ace Rogic and fellow midfielder Olivier Ntcham.

Lennon said: “Is it the strongest squad since I’ve come back? Probably yeah.

“Olivier’s back training day in day out now and Tom Rogic is back on the grass and he’s had a couple of really good days training.

“Hopefully the both of those two will be in contention for the squad at the weekend as well which is great.”

Kieran Tierney is winning his battle to appear against Steven Gerrard’s Light Blues after missing Scotland’s recent double header with a calf knock.

Should be a few weeks before he’s full training.

    Aggravated his injury in training.

Lennon says we’ll check on him tomorrow to see if he’s okay but I don’t see the point in risking him when we’re 10 clear tbh. Hayes could slot in.

Meanwhile, Lennon’s preparation for this weekend’s game have been hindered by a fresh injury concern for Kieran Tierney.

The Scotland internationalist was expected to make the game after returning from early from international duty last week. Tierney did not play against Kazakhstan and flew back to Glasgowrather than go on to San Marino with the rest of the squad but after initially feeling that the fullback would make the game, Lennon has revealed there have been fresh concerns over his ongoing pelvic and hip issue.

Tierney missed two months of the season with the same complaint and returned to action only at the end of February. He had looked uncomfortable in Celtic’s last outing against Dundee at Dens Park and Lennon has confirmed that there are ongoing concerns about his situation.

unwilling to rule Tierney out entirely, Lennon will give the player another 24 hours before making a decision but in the long-term he will look to rest him as much as he can between now and the end of the season.

“Tierney had a bit of a reaction on Friday,” said Lennon. “He looked a bit uncomfortable and we will have to wait and see how he is. He probably needs a rest. We’ll try and get him over the line as quickly as possible and shut him down for a while.

“I’m not ruling him out, but it didn’t look great on Friday morning. We’ll see. It’ll be judged by the medical team as well.”

Meanwhile, Tom Rogic and Olivier Ntcham are in contention to feature at some point. Given the length of time both have been out, it seems unlikely that either will start the game but they have come through the last week of training.

Rogic has not played this year after picking up a knee injury when he was on international duty with Australia at the Asian Cup while Ntcham has not played since the December defeat to Rangers.

“Rogic has been training and Ntcham has had a good week as well,” said Lennon.

“[Filip] Benkovic is still a little bit ginger on his foot, but Simunovic is back in training, so we have a few bodies back and the quality players coming back has given the squad a massive boost. Nir Bitton won’t make it, but James Forrest will be alright.”

Celtic ended up playing out the match with 10 men, having used all three substitutes before Dedryck Boyata picked up an injury.

Kieran Tierney was one of the players replaced through injury, but John Kennedy explained the left-back should be okay, having cramped up after having only returned to action after a period of time out through injury, although the club has still to assess Boyata’s injury.

“There are more bodies coming back again,” he said. “Ryan Christie’s on the way back and Filip Benkovic too. Olivier Ntcham and Tom Rogic got some game-time, so we’re getting there.

“We’re disappointed that Dedrcyk picked up an injury but these things happen and we’ve got a squad for a reason, so we’re focused on the next game.”
