    He can be brilliant and * in the same minute.

    He also makes some silly fouls when he is caught out of position. He’s been booked 5 times in the last 5 games ffs.

    We need to buy a new Right Back in the summer. Like so many of our current crop of defenders, Toljan always looks like he's got a game changing mistake in him.

    Overall he's not a significant improvement on what we have if he's even an improvement at all. Looks bewildered most of the time. Not worth the money he would cost. Personally, on recent form I would say Ralston is still our best RB.

    Not going to cut it for me.

    Said at the time he was well down the line of options imo.

    German media guy said his pace is excellent but his positioning is horrendous and it is being proven time and again.

    Not wanting him at all is different from expecting him to agree to massively reduced terms just because he loves the club.

    Anyway, he's still the best RB we currently have. Lustig has been getting slaughtered this season for making less mistakes than Toljan has.

    It would be massively reduced terms because when he signed his last deal he was one of the first names on the team sheet and vice captain. If we offered him a 1 or 2 year deal he'd back up to Ralston and/or ideally a new starting RB. It's got * all to do with 'because he loves the club'.

    He wasn't suggesting he be signed on massively reduced terms just because he loves the club though. He was suggesting it as his value to the team now doesn't justify being one of the top earners at the club.

    Toljan hasn't set the heather on fire for me either but that also doesn't mean we can't find a better RB out there for around £20k per week.

    I didn't say that the * was saying it was because he loves the club either. I just pointed out that it fits in with the club's historical attitude towards players who show an affinity for Celtic.

    Fair enough mate, I thought you were implying that we would be taking advantage of Lustig by offering him reduced terms rather than that being reflective of his diminished role in the squad.

    I agree with your wider point, we do generally take the * with player's loyalty going back decades. The old story between Bertie Auld and John Greig in the tunnel before an Old Firm game:

    Greig: "How much is your win bonus today Bertie?"

    Auld: "£5"

    Greig: "We're on £10"

    Auld: "Aye but the difference is we're guaranteed the £5"

    You’re not right. This isn’t a case of writing him off already, give the guy a chance. He’s barely been here 1 month.

    People keep saying how important it is to get our business done either in January, to prepare for next season or early in the summer. This guy came in on deadline day, after playing barely any football this season. I’ll make my final judgement once the season is finished.

    Ralston is better imo.

    When we signed him i thought we were getting a marauding rb, he simply passes half way then turns back, caught the wrong side so many times and commits some real stupid fouls.

    Send him back when his loan is up.

    He looks tidy with the ball sometimes, but I'm expecting a lot more from someone coming from a top German side, at his age and on the wages he's apparently on.
    It just shows how tricky the market is when average players are getting paid so much in the top divisions.

    He looks extremely average to put it kindly. Putting Lustig on for the last few minutes was probably a good move.

    There must be a player in there somewhere for Dortmund to have paid money for him. Hopefully he shows it soon.
