How many folk thought Rodgers was unrealistic ?

Comes down to money at the end of the day.

 

Surprised he is that highly thought of at Swansea considering they are 14th in the Championship and some of the teams that are ahead of them in the league even if they did have to rebuild after getting relegated.

 

They sold some of their best players and are a mess behind the scenes. He’s had to promote a number of academy players and play them week in, week out.

 

He was a great bloke too, very people and community orientated, performed a miracle at Huddersfield and would fit the values of Celtic thats for sure.

What are people smoking in here. Arsene Wenger, Marco Rose, Rafa Benitez, Eddie Howe. Ffs talk about delusion. This isn't football manager or Fifa. I see Steve Clarke has ruled himself out. If Lennon does well he should get it. Barring that you are talking about taking a punt. Looking around I don't see any outstansing realistic candidate. Maybe a punt on someone like David Wagner.

Maybe it was pish sure, but there was an article earlier quoting Clarke as saying he wants to go back to England for his next job, and saying the Celtic job was not for him due to wanting to go back to family for next job. Rare that a manger would be that clear if they were genuinely considering it.

 

If we don't have some massive ace up the sleeve, surprise top-calibre planned, there's no reason to give it to someone like Clarke over Neil Lennon. Unless it's an undeniable top-tier manager (or he somehow * everything up over the next 3 months), it has to go to Lennon.

Lenny, Wagner or Rose (throw Rodgers wages at him).

 

He might be tempted but would cost a fair whack, for Rose we’d need to move quick but he’ll already be earmarked for the Leipzig job no doubt. We have to aim high but I’ll not worry about it till the season is over.

 

I honestly think the days of us poaching managers from the EPL are gone mate, if Lenny wins the two trophies he can then we go with him imo.

 

Lennon will get the job barring a disasterous end to the season.

If that was to happen I think realistically Clarke (who has ruled himself our apparently), Wagner or longshot Rose.

I personally would love Lennon to get 10IAR.

 

Aye I’m thinking the same and if we want Lenny then he’ll be wanting assurances from the board he’ll be backed properly. Hopefully get the same scouts back as well but he doesn’t need to do too much with the squad.

 

Feel Lennon is the realistic choice and the one the board will end up choosing

I've never really understood Clarke being so popular. To me he looks like a noyes, does well with a team not expecting anything and then struggle to play for weekly wins.

 

Lennon's to lose. Complete the treble and he'll get next season. Need a known quantity right now.
