It is looking like the Smollett guy might very well have set up the whole thing as he has been charged. Just insane. I cannot even imagine how * in the head you must be to go hmmm I think this looks like a good idea let me do that. Like yourself I had never heard of the guy before this whole thing. He is on some network show here but I have never seen it. The shows on regular TV here are dreadful for the most part. Usually I only get into shows on the premium channels as they are nowhere near as censored and the acting is much better. I am in the middle of Season 5 of a show called Shameless which is set on the south side of Chicago and about a whacky Irish American family The Gallaghers. Just got done with the latest season of Ray Donovan a week ago another Irish American show and still top class.

Interesting how the "innocent until proven guilty" line wasn't trotted out for him the way it is for others.

    Delighted for the *

Let this be a lesson to the Me Too crowd. There’s liars and attention seekers everywhere and blindly believing everyone is an extremely dangerous precedent to set. Chapelle is the man.

I still call him Juicey Shmollyey to this day :giggle1:

Remember when that special came out we took over the stand up comedy thread for a few days. Was an absolutely unreal set from him altogether.

Woah woah woah. Not sure what Chappelle or my post has to do with having a go at a whole movement. Smollett is one guy. One idiotic guy. That doesn’t tar a whole movement though.

Not getting into this mate because online arguments just send my anxiety through the roof :giggle1:

I’m not tarring the whole movement, I’m just pointing out that it is incredibly dangerous to blindly believe every accusation which a good chunk of people we live among are inclined to do. A person looks upset, believable and we want to give them empathy and justice, naturally as a fellow human. Simple as that mate, no more no less. A bullshit accusation can be just as damaging to a life as a rape or any abuse, sexual or otherwise.

Won’t be commenting on this further, hope that clears up my comment.

Agreed mate. That can be kept to the person lying though. Not the actual movement itself.

Chappelle has made me laugh with much more controversial topics than “me too”. The man is an absolute genius. He is a comedian though. I love Jim Jeffries as well, doesn’t mean me or him are mysoginistic rapists though.

There has to be a middle ground.

Actually, the attack on comedians like Chappelle and Jeffries is much more sinister than anything Juicey Smoollyay attempted. Comedians are clearly not being serious. Hence “comedian”

When comedians start being shut down we are going down a dark path.

Dave Chapelle is doing *’s work. South Park and ballsy comedians seem to be the last strands of proper free speech.

I’ll never forget Jim Jeffries having to start his sets by telling the crowd he’s not really a violent, mysoginistic rapist. He done it in a funny way but you could tell it was needed. I’m a comedian, the things you hear are jokes, I’m not really like this.

The fact he had to caveat his sets is depressing.

I just watched a new (for me) Jim Jeffries gig as we were talking about him. It was a skit about a childhood friend who had muscular dystrophy and wanted to sleep with a hooker.

That’s about the nicest thing I can say about the sketch
