Brilliant. Totally unexpected as well, not what I thought it would be at all. It’s not a Wahlberg comedy and actually is more a comedy drama with a serious message. Lump in throat at times

    If Beale Street Could Talk

About a young man who is wrongly accused and incarcerated for rape, while his pregnant girlfriend and family try to secure his freedom. Another strong statement about the realities of racial prejudices in racial realities, and unfortunately continue to be sadly all too common. Another strong film from Barry Jenkins.

    Instant Family

Not just the conventional comedy that it would first appear to be, but something that has a bit more heart to it. A family film about an adoptive family. Rose Byrne and Marky Mark are what you expect, though don't know the name of the girl who is the teenager, she and the 2 grannies and the 2 social workers get the best lines. And unexpected Julie Haggarty sighting. Last time can think of her in a film was U-Turn, but as Ive sat through the Airplane! Flying High movies heaven only knows how many times feels like she should have done sooo much more.

    Thief

Brilliant film, can see why it’s often compared and cited as an inspiration for Drive. Career criminal gets involved with gangsters for a couple of big heists before he retires with his new wife and son.

    Collateral

Another Michael Mann film. Severely underrated. About a hitman who arrives in LA and hires/forces/kidnaps a taxi driver to go along with him for the night with the LAPD and FBI chasing them the whole time.

    Into the Spider-Verse

Probably the best animated film I’ve ever seen. Incredible visually and a great original story. By far the best Spider-Man movie ever made and easily the best comic book movie since The Dark Knight. Can’t recommend it enough.

    Cold in July

Another film similar to Drive and one of my favourite films. About a guy who kills a burglar who happens to be a recently released notorious criminals son who is out for revenge. A few twists and turns that I don’t really want to spoil.

    Widows

Good heist movie about ‘Widows’ who’s husbands die during their last job. They find the plans for another lucrative heist planned for the future and they decide to do it themselves. Think it’s being overhyped but it’s still a decent film. Daniel Kaluuya steals the show.

Slow. I felt every minute of the two hour run time tbh. Not necessarily a bad film, just not to my taste. I wanted to leave early but the wife wanted to sit through it all. She said it was * as we were leaving. :56:

I'm not a particularly emotional person, but A Monster Calls is probably the saddest movie I've ever seen :giggle1: It's depressing and brilliant at the same time.

    Creep

Found footage horror (sort of) of a guy hired by some weirdo to film him throughout the day. Few twists and turns and creepy as * at times.

    Just starting the sequel now.

Meh.. nothing special. Cruise is decent in it and I'm not a fan of his.

    On The Basis Of *

Film about a female lawyer, who pioneered the fight against discrimination based on your *, in US law. Well put together and a good watch.
