I get where your coming from but I am kind of going to disagree in one sense. Given the number of matches we play each season we need players who can come in and provide cover not just for injuries but to give our top players breaks. Kieran Tierney clearly is one of our top players but he has played way too many games over the past few seasons and when you combine that to the fact that the referees continually allow players to get away with brutal tackles on Tierney it is not a surprise to me that it finally caught up on his body. I love Izzy a player who came from another country and culture but who bought into who we are and came to be "Celtic minded" so to speak and gave us great service on the field for a long time. But clearly this season has shown his time has moved on. From what I have seen from Johnny Hayes and yesterday was a perfect example is that he can provide decent cover at that left back position going forward at least in terms of next season as well as the remainder of this season. Yes he is not at the level to be a starter and big player for us. But we have to recognize that out top players simply cannot play the number of games we play each season which right now is at about 60. We have limited resources to spend on backups so to my mind Hayes given his attitude and the quality he does have makes for a good back up to Tierney right now.

You’re quite possibly right about the pitch causes bobbles which effected his delivery, I was just calling it how I seen it at the game without the help of tv replays. That pitch could make anyone look poor at times, but on the whole I think the deliveries and decision making (ie when to take a touch and when to go first time) is a product of game time which he has had very little of.

Beautiful Sunday - the IRA version
Thought he was excellent in the first half tbh

Would definitely have him at the LB spot over Izzaguirre at all times.

A mistake I don't think Brendan will make again after tonight.

Best player on the park tonight imo. Feel sorry for him, still can't get decent run in the team and gives his all, as always.

Been saying it till I'm blue in the face, but Jonny Hayes is a GOOD player for us and the squad.

Been showing it in abundance recently.

Happy to have him in the squad, he's proving he could be the solution to the backup left back issue.
Tierney is the first choice for the next 12 years of he wants, but Hayes for the next two seasons as backup seems okay to me. Works hard, reads game well, good going forward. Seems happy with his role in the squad. Gives his all.

Underrated and undervalued for us, hopefully BR learns something although as he bought him in the first place that is * staggering.

He's been brilliant the last two games. Hopefully the start of turning things around, similar to Christie.

A lot more to him than just a guy who gives his all.
He should be ahead of izzy for selection in every game we play, the guy can defend and gives us option going forward.

Izzy is finished and how Rodgers even has him on the bench is a joke.
