For me it's unproven if he is good enough, but thoroughly deserves his chance (it's long overdue) and I hope he takes it.

Bain continues to impress. Great at his feet and always shows really good composure. Just recall that his first start was a match against Sevco...

Wonder if in the second half of the season that he'll start in the Cup games and 50/50 for home games. Maybe Gordon takes over for the away games?

Expect that he'll start again against Hamilton.

Hate this rotating keepers for cup games unless it’s a young keeper for experience in the early rounds. Bain is our number 1 and should be starting every game unless his performances drop.

Gordon should of been punted into the reserves after that shocker vs Salzburg and more so for his interview after the game then continually speaking pish every time in the media.

BR: "he really helps the speed of our game. When it gomes back he gets it out quickly, which helps us on the attack".

It looks like at long * last Rodgers' infinate patience with Gordons * around and prepostrously poor distribution has snapped.

The difference in our defenders and how they collect and bring the ball forward is night and day without a keeper who needs 10 touches to find them giving invitations for our defenders to be closed down.

Hope Bain grabs this opportunity by both hands!

I'd have Bain as first choice. For a few reasons, the main one being Brendan likes to build from the back. Bain looks comfortable playing in that way whilst Gordon does not.

Granted Bain hasn't been exposed to european football yet, we all know the the tempo is quicker in Europe, but my gut feeling would tell me Bain will be absolutely fine at that level too.

In terms of shot stopping there really isn't much in it between the two keepers. I just think Bain looks far more in control with the ball at his feet or if defenders put him in a sticky situation, which can happen sometimes when building from the back

That line by Brendan was the one that caught me. It's exactly what I'd been saying recently.
As soon as he gets possession hes looking to move it.

This is the differance as I see it, if like Bain when you take possession and immediately begin to look to distribute it, it will more often than not negate the need to kick off the deck as you will look to throw it.
Gordon is so ponderous once he collects that he usually waits for the box to be totally clear before looking to distribute. Then he'll place the ball on the deck and look to pass. Something he just can't do very well. It also allows the opposition to reset, teams have played us like this since early last year knowing we start slowly from the back. With Bain playing that way we'll break quicker and our play will be faster.
He has to be no.1 from here on in.

    I like Gordon still.
However, you are too generous. He would have ended up kamikaze tackling someone after it bounced off him, the ball would have ended up in the back of our net & he would have been sent off.

Until he plays another 2-3 games without being dropped for nothing I'm not letting myself believe, but it's good to hear the manager sees the difference in our play from the back with him there instead of Gordon at last.

Still not 100% the gaffer's done with Gordon. The Accies game should confirm it. Scotty starts that one and we'll be in the clear.

Aye same. Can see the didn't want to risk Gordon's knee on the plastic pitch line. Here's hoping not.

    Much more fluid..

Gordon is a better shot stopper but Bain suits our game more..

    Celtic’s No1..

I don’t even think it’s cut and dry that Gordon is the better shot stopper, let’s see after a few months of Bain being number 1.

I don’t deny for a second that Gordon was an incredible keeper at one point (Roy Keane’s autobiography is proof of that) and he still does make top drawer saves from time to time but his slopey shoulder attitude to everything he’s done recently has effected us and we look far more solid and assured with Bain behind the defence.
