Don't think anyone questioned is passion for playing for his country, more so the questionable celebrations of his 'team mates' when he scored the winner last game and the two strikers don't even celebrate. Also we were told this was this Aussies version of being at the Euros lol, don't think more than 100 travelled to the UAE to support the team.At least he will get a bit of a break and should be ready for the Hibs game at home next month.

 

I think the lack of celebration was because a draw was enough to go through.

Sure, but someone on here said 'it's our euros' and 'it means so much to our country' yet under 150 fans travelled there, I can guarantee you if it was the World Cup being held there the aussies would be there in their thousands (took thousands to Russia which is around a 14 hour trip) so begs the question how much does the competition actually mean to the supporters?

On another note how far do you think the aussies will go AussieDan? Imo there next match could go to extra time again with Rogic out and no notable goal scorers

 

I understand the reference, second major international tournament for countries in that region, so you can compare it to the Euros tournmanent wise, but not as many footballing mad nations IMO and standard obviously a whole lot different.

Long way to go for your casual fan I think, European destinations for a world cup a lot more appealing than going to the UAE.

We have been *, lucky to go through yesterdy, the Uzbeks were pretty disciplined, sat deep and try hit on the counter/set piece..Rogic was rotating in between left and right most of the second half, when he went off in the last 10 of extra time we had nothing..our fullbacks came from the A League (bezhich now at PSV) and they aren’t offering much going forward, I’d be surprised if we won it

 

Fullbacks offering nothing going forward? Behich was one of our best yesterday and Grant was superb in the group matches (although was quieter yesterday).

We're still completely dominating matches but remain vulnerable on the break because the sad fact about Oz football is that we just can't breed strikers. Love the look of Ikonimidis - doubt he'll be at Perth Glory much longer.
