No keeper should come out that far for a ball easily collected by their team mates but I think most keepers could manage that under no pressure. I would rather a keeper avoid any ideas of a high press from the opposition when so many are in their half.

I like both keepers but can Bain produce the shot stoppers as consistently as Gordon does. I mean if Bain is a better kicker then aye that would be Brendan's first choice but why isn't he? Brendan has shown us with De Vries he doesn't mess about with keepers and I think poor De Vries only made one mistake.

Sorry if this has already been posted but Craig can fare turn it on under pressure.

Should get a run of games, Gordon gives me the fear with his Cobra Kai sweeping.

De Vries made one mistake? He made a litany of errors away in Leningrad alone. And dont forget the big dumpling conceded from 40 odd yards against Kilmarnock and injured himself in the process

Oh sorry, I don't remember the Leningrad game, maybe didn't see it. Bit like De Vries when Coulibaly hit that 40 yarder that appeared to go through his hands. To rub it in he's a centre back too so that's probably the closest he's allowed to go upfield. Didn't Brendan sub him at half time? Ouch, his excuse was landing too heavily trying to save the very same shot. Poor guy. Most folks get bright eyed at the memory. 'Did you play for Celtic grandad?' 'Did you used to have a Playstation ya wee wido.'

Don't necessarily agree Gordon can pull in one save one minute and let in a howler the next, I think his shop stopping is overrated at times. He's had a handful of fantastic performances but more performances we care to remember

Gordon’s shot stopping is extremely overrated mate. Considering the amount of shots we actually have against us, he lets in a fair amount these days. Also thinks he’s much better than he is, which isn’t very good imo.

Brendan should be at least phasing him out for Bain or a better keeper but I wouldn’t be surprised to see him still in goals for us when we win the 10 :giggle1:

Given Bain has started all our cup games so far and a couple of spot starts in the league it might be that Rodgers is indeed phasing Gordon out of being our starter in goal. Although he only had that one situation just before half to deal with Bain had a good game with the ball at his feet on Saturday and that clearly is what Rodgers wants from his goalkeeper and is unquestionably Gordon's big weakness.

Brendan’s said more than once that Bain is our “cup keeper” which is a lot of *. Play the guy, he’s good enough.

Maybe he feels he needs to ease Bain into being our number 1 and feels playing him in the cups and some spot starts in the league this season is the next step. Clearly though whether it is Bain taking over full time as our number 1 or bringing in a new keeper we need a keeper who can play comfortably with his feet to take over in goal. Bain has shown promise in that regard and we will see how the rest of the season goes but obviously Rodgers is the one seeing the full picture day in day out in training.

I agree with phasing Gordon out as he's getting on a bit but I still think we should forget about having a keeper with Neuer like ball skills, how many teams have a keeper that can do that? Our scouts can't even find a decent defender never mind our keeper.

Should be given a run of games to see if he can cope with being number 1
