Possible transfers for Celtic in the January window

The January transfer window is in full swing, and supporters of the club will be delighted to know that Celtic have already concluded three deals. However it appears that the Hoops aren’t done just yet, as there are prospective transfers that could be completed by the end of this month.

In Celtic’s third deal in January, striker VakounIssouf Bayo made a permanent move to the club for approximately 2 million pounds on a 4 year contract. This deal has spelled good news for both Celtics’ fans, as well as punters looking to bet on the club. The easy availability of football betting tips is also likely to further bolster the betting market for Celtic. In the coming days, the club will focus more on building up a strong defensive line up, besides looking for a new centre-back to take the place of Dedryck Boyata, whose contract is set to expire this summer.

    Possible incoming players

Timothy Castagne - It has been rumored from the beginning of the transfer window that Celtic were inclined to bring in the full back from Belgium, who is currently playing for Atalanta in Serie A. While earlier it was believed that a sum of 6 million pounds was sufficient to attract the 23 year old to the club, over time this amount has risen to around 10 million pounds, making the deal slightly less probable.

Omar Elabdellaoui - Given the high price for Castagne, a more palatable option for Celtics appears to be Elabdellaoui, a 27 year old Norwegian international who currently plays for Olympiacos. A transfer to Celtic would cost approximately 4 million pounds, making it a pretty lucrative deal for the club.

Andrew Gutman - The left back from the United States could be starting at Celtic by the end of January, despite his trial with the Rangers last month. If the deal goes through, Gutman will be the second American to join Rodger’s squad this month, after Timothy Weah’s move to the club on a loan agreement. While the 22 year old has not made his professional debut yet, he boasts of an impressive record at the college level where he played for the Indiana Hoosiers.

    Possible outgoing players

Scott Brown - Brown’s departure from Celtic seemed like a near certainty around Christmas, as his deal with Western Melbourne almost went through. Nevertheless, since his contract with the club is set to come to an end in the summer, this month would be interesting to see whether he decides to stay on at Celtic or not.

Lewis Morgan - There have been rumors that Morgan might make a move to Sunderland, in what would be a reunion with Morgan’s former manager Jack Ross. More recently, however, it appears that he will be moving to Hibernian under a loan deal which would give him much needed time on the field.

Jack Hendry - It is no secret that the 23 year old has had a rocky start to his career at Celtic, and is now the fifth choice center-half. In such circumstances, a loan spell would be excellent for him to develop his abilities in smaller games.

On the whole, January is all set to be an interesting month for Celtic with several interesting transfers on the cards.
