He wasn't a bad player. Just not suited for a club with the pressures that Celtic has

    Pukki is far superior technically.

Harald was an anomaly, knew where the net was and was lightning quick but if you passed him the ball he couldn’t even trap the * thing. His record at Rosenborg was frightening, top goalscorer in Norwegian football history up to a few years ago.

found his level, blamed the standard of football in Scotland the reason to why he played *- wonder if he blamed the bundesliga for playing * at Schalke as well

Wee * thought he was coming for an extended holiday. Didn’t like the physical side of the Scottish game. The lad had no bollocks.

It was always evident he had talent mate, who knows, might have grown into himself now. He just couldn’t handle the pressure here, probably why he failed at Schalke and Sevilla as well.

I wouldn’t say pish though, ability was there.

He just had standard ability for me..

Bit of pace and an ok finisher. Didn't really ever do anything you thought this guy's class. Bit better than pish then..

There isn't many other's I can think of who looked so lifeless whenever they missed a chance. Bag's under his eye's like he was demented and hadn't slept for week's :56:

EACH to their own mate, i liked the guys movement, passing, positioning, first touch, link up play... when he was happy and felt free to play.

Which we didn’t get to see much in the Hoops. There’s a reason he’s been at good clubs though. He does have talent. I hope the guys sorted his head out, never seen a * that timid.

He had technique but the heart of a snail.

    Celtic spooked him.

Crazy how many quite average players do really well there.

    Randolph
    Hutton Bamba Mulgrew Douglas
    Phillips Fleck Bannan Irvine
    Pukki Jutkiewicz

Marshall, Cooper, Kipre, Blackett, Fisher, Forsyth, Fox, Bryson, Fulton, MacLeod, McKay, Magennis, McBurnie, Rhodes

That team and squad would probably be seen as very good quality in the Champinship with a good chance of promotion made up of ex SPFL players and Scottish guys. If that was the Celtic squad we'd be queueing up to jump off a bridge.

Forgot some * as well like Windass, Garner, Waghorn - some amount of absolute duds playing there and they actually cost good money.

Definitely had movement. Pace and found clever spaces..

Was playing the lone role for Finland against side's like Spain but he was a ridiculously big shitebag..

Think that's why he's failed at the 3 big club's he's been at..

There was a game. Might of been Hibs where he was almost begging the turf to dig him a hole out of there..

Few players on those Open Goal interviews have mentioned the lack of pressure at a club in the Championship. No surprise that has suited Pukki.

Since this gets bumped a lot these days… I just had to comment. There are a few misconceptions about Teemu Pukki going around. But some very good and probably correct assesments as well (I've seen 90+% of his games since he moved to Schalke).

    1. Pukki was a failure at Schalke (or Sevilla). Not really true. Yes, Schalke was probably a bit too much for him. Playing with Raul and competing with Huntelaar for playing time. But "playing time" is the key here. Pukki scored 8 goals in 1491 minutes for Schalke. 1.491 minutes is less than 17 full games of 90 minutes. It is a goal every 186 minutes in the Bundesliga. So stop saying he "failed" or "was *" at Schalke. In Spain Pukki was just a kid, he played 27 minutes in the LaLiga.
    2. A lot has been said about Pukki being "mentally weak" or "having the heart of a mouse" or "folding under pressure". There is definitely a point there. He is probably not the most vocal player and Celtic are a special club expected to win every game. He has grown a lot mentally during the past few years as well though. Bad performances used to drive him to a downward spiral and that is the place where he was at with Celtic. He used to be there with Finnish national team as well...
    3. Pukki was a flop at Celtic. Well, it wasn't a huge success... He scored 9 goals in 38 games (1.676 minutes). That is a goal every 186 minutes. The same as with Schalke btw. So it is an average of a goal in every other game. Still, he has said himself that he did not do well. And he has not blamed the level of play in Scotland, quite the opposite. He actually said that the Scottish League is not a bad league at all. He has said that he had thought it would be "easier". Easier than the Bundesliga, sure. And he probably thought that playing for Celtic would be easy since you are so much above the competition. Which brings me to the next point…
    4. Pukki does (and did) some things well and others not so well. Look at the goals he has scored for Norwich. He times his runs well behind the defensive line and calmly places the ball in the far corner. The problem playing for Celtic was that there really wasn't any defensive line to run behind since every team is playing so defensively against Celtic. Pukki is not a player to score with his head if you throw a cross at him, never has, never will. Funny that his first goal for Celtic was a header if my memory serves me well. He would probably have scored more goals for Motherwell than Celtic.
    5. Pukki went to Bröndby and became a goalscoring machine. Not really. His first seasons in Denmark after Celtic were not fantastic when it comes to goalscoring. In his first season in Denmark he scored 9 goals in 27 games, in the next season 9 goals in 33 games. Danish League vs. Scotland, I don't know. Celtic would be a title contender in Denmark but Bröndby is probably better than many teams in Scotland.
    6. New manager, new Pukki. Teemu has said that he realized what it really takes to succeed when Bröndby hired a new German manager, Alexander Zorniger. It was obvious if you look at the stats. 20 goals in 34 games in the Danish league, a hat-trick against Hertha Berlin in Europe. 19 goals the next season.
    7. Norwich. So, here he is at Norwich. At his prime. Scoring at will in the Championship. Pukki still has the weaknesses that he will always have. But he has grown mentally and physically as well. He is not pushed around anymore. If he would return to Celtic today, he might still fail (read point 4). He would probably do a bit better though since he is a better player now than he was when he played for Celtic.

So, to summarize. He did not fail at Schalke but came to Celtic needing to play regularly. He got a fair chance, but did not do well. He knows it and has said it himself. He has never said a bad thing about the Scottish league or Celtic. He developed into a better player in Denmark and now approaching 30 years is probably at his prime at Norwich.

    Edit: Remember, #pukkiparty tomorrow! ;-)
