First started following Celtic properly around 1993, after I got my first strip as a kid the black and white away one. East end of Glasgow and where I came from was majority huns, there was no prejudice between us kids apart from banter. But I remember at the time not knowing success and asking my dad why do Rangers always win etc, as kids though it was all just stupid banter and envy from us Celtic fans as we had * all success.

As we got older and into secondary school banter turned to hate quite easily and pelters between each side got brutal, especially around the 12th, every year some of the rebel youth would paint all over the streets “* the queen”, “ira” and remember one along a huge wall “billy wright bang bang bang, ira” that day would be fierce as * the amount of scraps I got in for being a "* *" but that hate towards us just made us hate the other * even more.

Stigma not so much but definetly prejudice in the past was much worse probably even worse before my time.

 

My kids has a stigma, when they talk about Celtic non of the other kids knows us. My 8 year old took out his Celtic scrave today and waiting for the game tomorrow...broke my heart

 

Met alot of Irish in my uni days and they were all United/Liverpool/Rugby mad and didn't have am opinion on Celtic.

 

I don't want to bang on about it, but it's pretty * obvious that a thread in this circumstance becomes overly tedious to the perspective that me, as an individual starts to consider the notion that TalkCeltic as a footballing forum, certainly with the perogative of a 'fans only' footballing space starts to become to some degree a 'closed book'.

 

I have to say I have never come across anyone who thinks I’m a scumbag for supporting Celtic. I am also yet to meet anyone who still thinks Larsson plays for us. I’m not from Dublin mind you but I am from Lurgan.
