I have been instructed to change the colour of the skirting boards but herself but one wall has wallpaper how do you mask it without ripping the wallpaper?

Cardboard boxes. Cut them into long strips and put flush against top of skirting. Only downside is you need to bin each piece every length. Just keep a black bag handy and it is only one wall. That’s how I get round it. @strachansdaman

Get a Stanley knife and slice a straight line across the paper at the top of the skirting, then just pull the skirting of and it will not rip any paper above line

There's a tool you can buy for 3 or 4 quid in pound shops and the like,it's a long (18 inch ) thin steel blade with a plastic handle,I think it's for pushing wallpaper into internal corners,i've used it myself for cutting in ceilings. it's a handy number just give it a wipe every now and again.

The wall paper will have a small lip at the bottom, should be easy to do it by hand with a small brush?

Seems a lot of hassle over skirting.
Would it not be easier just divorcing her ?

Or just take your time. If you get a decent enough amount of gloss on the brush you just let the last few bristles catch it and it'll be fine.
