    Would agree with Packy here.

Fella I used to work with and his Mrs are coming over from Edinburgh. Advised them to fly into Knock and hire a motor, 2 nights in Galway, drive down the wild Atlantic way to Dingle for 2 nights and then back up to Dublin for a night or 2 before home. West is best

It's the obvious stuff that makes a trip to Rome tbh. Spanish steps, Pantheon, Trevi fountain, Piazza Navona, Palatine hill, Borghese park and so on. If you get a room that is fairly central a lot of these will be walkable. I never used the Metro. We walked most places, got the odd bus and jumped on the tram to Trastevere (a nice district for restaurants and bars).

was over last year. place is amazing with the history and all that. get a Omni card, which will give you free tour bus, bus and metro for 3days, also will give you access to 3 of off the main attractions like the Vatican coliseum etc. and will let you go straight to the front of the que.
also if you go to the Vatican, once your in, you can pay an extra few euro's to go up onto the roof of the Vatican and if your fit enough, up to the top off St Peters dome were you'll get an amazing view. also make sure you go to St John of the lantern church were you'll see the biggest doors I've ever seen.
food.... well it's Italy , so it's amazing.
wee tip...... if you go into a café and see something like coffee... 3 euros...... watch... cos if you sit down it'll cost about double. I got caught out with that when we were in some square and the wife and her sister wanted to see another * church but I couldn't be arsed, so sat at a wee café and some bloke was singing opera way over in the corner (the godfather theme song) and got a large beer which cost 20 euros.
another wee tip..... if you do get an Omni card, (the office is on st peters square) get your tickets for the papal blessing from them as they will tell you the best time to go at and the best place to sit. we were about 6ft away from the pope, which was pretty neat and made my wife happy, which ment I got peace for the rest of the holiday.
also, make sure you see the Vatican at night.

Planning a road trip with me mates around the Balkans next July, fly into Athens and then travel up to Zadar while stopping in a few places for 2 or 3 days along the way.

    Main stops look to be:

    • Athens, Greece
    • Tirana, Albania
    • Kotor, Montenegro
    • Dubrovnik, Croatia
    • Split, Croatia
    • Zadar, Croatia
Was going to drive the whole thing but the distance from Athens to Albania is a joke so best to fly the first stage I'd say, anyone whos ever been to any of them or any stop suggestions welcome :celt_2:

Been to Athens a few times but only as a stopover to Paros.
Really hot when you're going. About 35°c to 40°c during the day in July.
Drivers are nuts so probably best flying from Athens to Albania.
