Aye, they could defend and they had the upper hand at set peices, unlucky a bit that Dembele only got 30 minutes of one game and no Boyata otherwise who knows they may never have scored from that freekick.

But we should learn to go for it more against these kind of teams in future.

Celtic were magnificent tonight and should be proud of their performance. Anyone slating the whole team is talking out of their keeky wacker . The defence however are a * joke and both CB are not Celtic class and that is the difference at this level.

Fact of the matter is even with our pish defense wich lets face it we gifted them thier goals over the 2 legs didn't have to even try work for them that's the thing.

If Dembele' and Edouard play over 2 legs we win that tie out the park. they were a stuffy team nothing special.

We need a new defence bar Tierney. We literally have no one there. Ajer is a work in progress and is arguable or best defender. A guy who should be, ideally, filling in whenever players need a rest or injured. That guy is, again arguably, our best defender. Simunovic, Hendry and especially Boyata are nowhere near good enough. I don't need to mention Boyata. Simunovic is a cover at best. Not someone who should be first choice at our club and Hendry isn't good enough. He isn't that young. There's no sign that he has what it takes.

Lustig is over the hill. We've known about that for the last two seasons. The last, definitely.

We need two centre backs to walk straight into the team. It shouldn't be hard enough. We're * poor back there.

 

A bit random but i blame the medical * at our club. Failing to solve moussas hamstring problem from the 2-0 semi in 2016 is * criminal. Ending up only having moussa for 1/6th of the tie and it * showed straight away. The way our injuries recur is * unheard of at this level.

 

Gutted for the players ,played really well ,but at this level you can see wot you get with projects in defence , having said that ,hendry had an excellent game ,but same problems switching off in defence ,conceeding same goals time and again ,broony was a collosuss,Tierney mcgregor, ntcham ,but this team needs help ,they burst a gut tonight for us and its sad that the money wasnt spent on players to help them .

 

The board thought splashing 8 million on Edouard would keep the fans happy.... a joke!

 

Even in the last minute though we were passing it about the back ... again. Its as if they dont give a * ... as if they dont feel the same way we do when theres 60 seconds to go and we need a goal. Shower of spineless *.

AEK are a very average team , which says it all about Celtic. Too many players way, way below the level required and only showed coherence and urgency when two down and Dembele came on.
Lustig-past it
Jozo- f**king useless. A complete bombscare.
Hendry- Nowhere near the level required. Eoghan O'Connell was far, far better than him. I don't know how he got a game for Dundee.
Ntcham- Dreadful tonight. Slowed everything down like we were two up.
Forrest- Headless in the second half and looked like a rabbit in the headlights when we needed calm of thought.
Griffiths- Touch was awful
Rogic- Should probably have played.

Brown, Tierney and CalMac all at least tried and showed a will to win. Gordon had two bad kicks and was otherwise unused.
Dembele- was superb when he came on, the best player on the pitch by a mile. It could have been so, so different.
Sinclair- Superb goal and it looked like his second shot was going in.
Rodgers-His team. He signed Hendry. He can * and moan about the board all he likes, he was praising them in January. It took him until the second goal tonight to even try and tinker with the set-up, when Mr. Magoo could see that Athens were comfortable. He needs to stop passing the blame too.

The whole thing is so disappointing. I can't remember the last time I was this angry after a Celtic result, purely because the whole thing should have been avoidable. In the spirit of Barry Chuckle, I expect the next few days to be everyone to be absolving themselves of blame. To me, to you.

Credit to AEK. They are average, no doubting that, but their work-rate, spirit and will to win was commendable. Sure, there was a bit of gamesmanship at the end, but that is to be expected. I would kill for two central defenders who position themselves well and put their bodies on the line like they did tonight. Even the big striker who tried to strangle Broony played with a ferocity that would be enjoyable if it wasn't against us.

 

Burnley away would be some day out.

 

How can the club be in this mess after winning back to back trebles and 2 consecutive CL group stages
