Bendtner as much as he’s pretty much done has enough about him to give a CB partnership of Ajer and Hendry a tough night.

Interested to see the pricing strategy for this one. A big crowd is important but a weeks notice is not long for people to purchase. And we're still in mid July.

Our only real option defensively is to go 3 at the back with Hendry, Ajer and Lustig. Unless anything drastically changes between now and next week like Boyata returning early or something else then that's the best we have. It's definitely not ideal but with Lustig's experience it should help Hendry through the game and Ajer has shown he can handle these games as well.

Hopefully we finish the tie after the first game and not have a repeat of last year.

Albeit a year ago, he taught Ajer a few lessons last season.

I don’t even want to think about Hendry up against him at this point, he’s far too inexperienced and Bendnter is the exact opposite.

Defo going into this one far weaker than we were last season.

Tbh this could go either way.

No defender will be the reason we won't make it, if this comes the case.

We literally started Rogic in the 1st leg and Forrest in the 2nd leg up top last year. With respect to the quality of those players in their more suitable positions, it's absurd to even compare to the quality of Edouard and Dembele.

Also, figure I'll make my annual-ish "* is going on with UCL seeding" since there are a bunch of recurring questions over the last couple pages.

First: We are guaranteed to be seeded through qualifying. (We had the 4th-highest CC of all teams entering champions route, so the worst we can do is 4th - and the PO round for champions route is 8 teams: 4 seeded, 4 unseeded.)

Second: Unlike prior years, the draw for every round (after preliminaries) is held before the matches for the preceding round,* so match winners from the prior round are not known at the time of the draw. This means three things:

    1. If the lower-CC team wins, they always effectively take the (higher) CC of their opponents into the next round.

    2. Whenever a draw is conducted for a round, we will know either our opponent or at least the match from which our opponent will come from for that round (e.g., how we knew after the 2Q draw - which happened before the 1Q matches - that we would play either Rosenborg or Valur in 2Q).

    3. Whenever a draw is conducted for a round, our potential opponents for the following round will be limited (to roughly half). For example, when the 2Q draw occurred, our opponent pool when we advance to 3Q was limited to:

    AEK
    CFR Cluj - Malmö
Dinamo Zagreb - Hapoel Be'er Sheva
    Red Star - Sūduva Marijampolė
    BATE - HJK
    Shkëndija - Sheriff Tiraspol

Hope this adds a little clarity.

*Specifically, 1Q/2Q at same time before 1Q; 3Q immediately prior to 2Q; and PO immediately prior to 3Q. Last year, 1Q/2Q were done at same time before 1Q, but 3Q and PO were done after results from prior rounds were known.

If Cromper is out we should be looking at bringing in a cb or go 442 with Forrest at RB

Registration deadline for 2Q is midnight CET today (19th). I believe there is an exception for the qualifying rounds that allows one additional player to be registered (or swapped if need be) up to midnight before the first leg match, so I suppose we could really get a CB in last minute if we need to.

Yeah the wildcard option does exist but it holds problems, that player is last minute and has not trained with the team. So in theory it could be better to have a non defender train for a week or 2 to fill the role.

I take it none of the youth/development team CBs are worth thinking about?
