I have always tried to adopt a healthy diet, but occasional I succumb to temptation and indulge in a plate of good old fashioned home cooked chips. Has anyone any experience of these air fryers that are now popular as a healthy alternative? Do they replicate the taste of a deep-fat fryer?

    Thanks

Tbh they are good and you can taste the food better and chips and that are pretty much the same as a deep fryer, saying that ma wee maw still buys lard :56::56:.

You’ll use it once maybe twice, you’ll tell everyone it’s great and then it’ll sit at the back of your cupboard alongside the slow cooker, pasta maker and the George Foreman.

George foremans the only thing i can use. She moans to get it cleaned, i say no. Black bits add to the taste.

About the chips, * imo. Half boiling them, in the oven with 1 cal spray until the outsides golden browns a better healthy way imo. Or just pay a quid and enjoy the huge bag you get at the chipy :56:

Spent a lot of time researching this before buying a deep fryer - even know a couple of colleagues who bought the air fryers (T-Fal). Verdict is fairly conclusive, deep fryers still taste the best.

Of course, this is down to personal taste/preference as well as technique because even deep fryers require doing it properly. I just bought a waffle slicer to make some waffle fries, hoping those turn out great too

People on diets use them a lot. So if you are permanently eating a healthy diet you may well use it on a regular basis.

Not in my opinion, threw mines out just before we moved on account of it breaking, have missed it ever since - will be getting one next week.

Used it virtually every day for all sorts - been back on the gas cooker/grill and oven and although it has it's benefits it's still nowhere near as good as the air fryer for some things.

Chips are dynamite in them, either frozen or homemade (especially sweet potato)

Used to use it almost every second day for salmon

Made macaroni, spag bol (obviously boiled pasta beforehand)

    Soups

    Curries

    Fish

    Mince

They are a blessing - only need a fraction of oil plus they keep the flavour in most of yer meats (obviously wouldnt cook like a steak or anything in them).
