400 is optimistic, the way things are going 4 years seems unlikely enough!

I think Kim Jong Un has played a very clever and shrewd international game over the last couple of years, mixed in with the fact that his Regime's Nuclear programme has hit major problems and flaws and almost certainly pressure from within his own regime on his standing.
There is now real hope, real real hope for the region and if this is the case then a shining example for other regions to take note.
Kim knows now that he can now be seen as defender of his regime and now peacebroker of his regime.

or it could be that the norths economy has hit the skids and china has basically told him to * off so he needs to reach out to the west in order to keep his hands on, which must be a very shaky hold onto power.

It’s funny how all this started as soon as lil Kim came back from a visit to China... love to have been a fly on that wall.

This is positive but I think people are being overly optimistic. Relations will be better and in the short term the North Koreans will be better off poverty rates will drop but in the long term they will still be ruled by a tyrannical dictator and not a single citizen will experience true freedom under his rule.

Some on twitter are acting like Korea will be unified, democracy will be brought to North Korea and Kim Jong Un will see the error of his ways.

NK has now came on the platform as a nuclear power, to match with all the other world nuclear powers, he is still dangerous

Just goes to show you the thinking off Trump, * off his long standing allies in Europe and Canada over a potential trade war then bolts over to Asia in order to broker a peace deal with a despot with a blatant disregard for human rights.
But there again, he will get a lot of likes on his twitter page.... and isn't that what it's all about ?

I think Kim J Un will decide he needs "medical treatment" in Paris within 12 months and he will decamp with his fortune.
A new leader approved by China will take over. Will be another HK. Not that theres anything wrong with that.

Apparently Kim Jong un isn’t very well at the moment. Few reports in the media going abouy. Don’t think it’s covid related though.

I watched this thing about an old American guy who stayed in North Korea after the war, just sat an fished with old North Korean guys at the river. They were pals etc.
