I got 50% so I guess my deportation order is in the post. FFS I don't even know what the War of Roses is nevermind when it was. I guess it wasn't a fight over a tin of chocolates.

Ah well, the Famine's over anyway so I should go home now.

War of the roses The Wars of the Roses was a civil war fought in England. It lasted for just over 30 years from 1455 to 1487, however, the battles were mostly small and sometimes were years apart.

Celebrated on the 14th February every year

79%, but i had a qualified guess on most. Makes no * sense, it's just a bunch of random pub quiz like questions that dont really access how well integrated to the society you are

its beyond ridiculous the questions that get asked.

What's even worse though Is the language test I believe non EU citizens have to take and how stupid and closed off their acceptance is for things that count as proof.

E.g my other half is South African and just to get her indefinite leave she had spend £100 or so from what I can remember just so she can book a sit "interview" for no more than 5 minutes and show she can hold a conversation in English, completely ignoring the fact she'd been employed for the previous 5 years straight and obtain a qualification from city and guilds.

The UK/Gov's argument is that South Africa doesn't have English as one it's recognised first languages. Even though it's known and marked as a commonly used language over there they are still expected to come over here and prove they can mutter a few words.

I remember looking at a FAQ/Video of what the test was about and what to expect and it showed some poor old Indian biddy just being asked to name some stupid inanimate object in English.

To be honest, it's better to have those ridiculous interviews than what Denmark does, which is to set the bar unbelievably high.

They demand people to master that language, possibly the most difficult western european language, in two to three years, otherwise you do not get the right to permanent residence. They also have, or had, their version of this * silly test.

French lass at our work I'm sure said she has spent over a grand. She went to uni here and has worked here for years in the civil service. When she went for her interview there was a problem with a train strike or something so she had to ring them up and explain why she would have to book a different time all of which would have tested her English far more than any interview. At work last year we did this English Language training course and she came out top of the class :giggle1:

I would argue it should be the other way round, danish is hardly a language used globally compared to English.

Having a 5 min sesh pointing out the names of things and talking for two mins about an interest is hardly a real insight as to how well you know the language.

Much in the same way the citizen questions give no real bearing to someone ability to acclimate to the local culture.
