Looks like the 2 heralded January signings could be potential flops in Musonda and Compper and the 2 we where not keen on in Hendry and Bain could be the gems.... Football eh???!?!?!??!!

Bain's hardly been a gem at all. He's been competent, not much more at all. Musonda has looked good in the very few chances he has been given.

He’s been a bit more than competent.

Utter pish from Rodgers there. Boyata has been stinking for a while now and still keeps his place.

Seems like Compper maybe isn’t as good as we hoped.

Rodgers has been outstanding for us, there's no doubt about that but our recruitment strategy has been bizarre to say the least.

Only 2 out of his 16 signings went straight in the team, Sinclair and Dembele.

The rest have either been deemed projects or evidently not able to immediately improve the team, which begs the question why sign them?

If Compper can't do any better than Boyata then it's a multi-million pound mistake. Likewise paying a fat stack to Chelsea for Musonda only to deem the first 6 months of his loan as a bedding in period is mental.

If we're paying exorbitant fees for loans then they must surely be expected to come in and make an instant impact?

We're on the brink of history in securing a double treble but this summer for us as a club is huge, as many of our players are likely to move on for various reasons. I just hope the signings we make can instantly go in to improve the team, if we're to do anything in Europe then we need it.

I can’t believe I have just read that. He was going on about signing quality over quantity yet Compper can’t get a game over Boyata. :39:

Also when he mentions about helping the younger kids in training. Isn’t that what Kolo is here for? What’s the point in paying £1 million+ for a player if that’s what his main contribution to the team is going to be when we desperately need him.

I know Compper has been injured but our defence hasn’t actually been solid has it? So why not play him in a back three with Ajer and Hendry or a back four with Ajer, Hendry and Tierney. Or Simunovic when he finds a bit of form again.

Was about to come in and post this myself.

“Marvin is a good guy, I like him. Hopefully in his time here he gets a chance to show his qualities. But that’s only if other players aren’t playing so well.”

That's a very odd thing to go public with. Something's not right there.

I know Lee Congerton has links to German football, maybe it was his call.
Obviously brendan has to OK signings first, but I can't imagine brendan desperately wanting him then refusing to play him if it's his player however you only need to look at Musonda so * knows.

I agree Rodgers signing policy so far has been pretty wayward.

Not hugely suprising that this one hasn't worked out so far.

Either way our defence isn't anywhere near trustworthy or good enough, needs sorted in the Summer. The last few windows have been frustrating as *.

this is looking like the worst transfer in a long time for us(worse than derk at least we got 16 games out of him). He should be getting an opportunity to play, I doubt his fitness will be tested in the league that much as our defenders usually stroll through games and it's usually a lack of concentration that costs us goals. Another panic buy it seems

Ntcham went straight into the side playing CL and league football immediately..

Compper looked very tentative when he played in the Cup and rightly wasn't risked v the Hun..

He's not had any impact so far and it's been frustrating to watch the very right footed Boyata shoehorned into the team as a left sided CB.. would play KT there on Sun.

The injury came at the worst time for Compper just as he was putting in a mini preseason in Dubai. Was always going to be tough for him to get up to speed after that setback, given his lack of game time this season.

The defence is still obviously where we need to strengthen the most.. BR has signed 2 x GK, 3 x CB & RB since he's been here and we still need to add real quality to all..

Agreed, his recruitment hasn't been as good as I'd of liked, especially as he's been given a bigger chequebook than previous managers.

Needs to improve in that aspect, we are still largely Ronny's side, albeit a side that has had huge success domestically.

Match fit is not the excuse, Rodgers has confirmed his reasons for not playing Compper.

If he isn't fit enough, after months, to play some games other than Morton then the games a bogey.

His reasons were that he was unlucky to get injured and others seized their chance ahead of him.
