Five of the Best Celtic FC Players of All Time

In Scotland, football is much more than just a game, a pastime to the many fans of their home clubs. It is a reputable way of life for fans and players alike. While the growing popularity of Slotty Vegas Casino and similar services has taken its toll on other establishments, Celtic FC managed to retain their position as a piece of Scottish culture and ultimately, history.

As a result, the same thing happened to the top performing football players that ever took part in this club. Writing a Leo Vegas review, despite the platforms numerous features, is still a lot easier than listing all Celtic FC players that have contributed to the team’s success with their outstanding performance, which makes five mentions a good start at the least.

    Henrik Larsson

While the players on our list are not particularly ordered according to some ranking system, there are many who would rightfully claim that Larsson is one of, if not the best player Celtic FC has ever had. Back in 1997, Henrik Larsson had his first season with this team after being signed by then-manager Wim Jansen. He broke the domestic score record for his time, and took his team to 4 Scottish Premier League victories and 2 Scottish Cups, as well as the UEFA Cup final match where they lost to Porto in overtime.

    Billy McNeill

The year 1957 was important for Celtic FC – it was the year when they signed McNeill and would keep him among their front lines for more than 800 appearances. His influence is undeniable for two reasons – firstly, he was captain of the Lisbon Lions when they won the European Cup in 1967, and secondly because his leadership brought Celtic 7 Scottish Cups, 9 Scottish League Championship wins and 6 Scottish League Cups.

    Jimmy Johnstone

Johnstone remained with the club for 14 years, during which he earned the title of Celtic’s greatest player by being voted in a 2002 fan poll. His skills and agility had him nicknamed ‘The Flying Flea’, but it was his presence and contribution to the Lisbon Lions team of 1967 that gained him most fame.

    Jimmy McGrory

This player is worthy of praise for all he managed to accomplish during his 15 years with Celtic FC, breaking practically every record there was. But this isn’t the only reason he is considered to be the true spirit of the game – he refused a transfer fee to Arsenal that would make him the highest-paid footballer of his time in order to keep scoring for Celtic FC.

    Paul McStay

McStay sure stayed in Celtic, starting and ending his football career in green and white, and earning the title The Maestro along the way. After all, he was voted a member of the greatest Celtic team during the same poll mentioned above. What earned him the title were three SPL titles among other accomplishments during his young but dedicated stay as a Celtic FC footballer.
