    "He was a pioneer for black footballers in the game when he played alongside Laurie Cunningham and Brendon Batson at The Hawthorns."

    Regis was instrumental in breaking down racial barriers and played excellent football in the face of virulent hatred from the terraces.

    Sad news.

    Very sad. I remember big Cyrille playing, he wasn't the tallest maybe just over 6ft but he was a tough old fashioned centre forward who'd no problem dishing back any rough treatment he got. Clear memories of watching him in the 87 cup final playing for Coventry.
    Only 59 too.
