“Do you feel like the suggested phrase of sectarianism (religious partisanism) plays a part of today's game in relation to Glasgow's football clubs?”

That’s a poorly worded question because the answer to that is that religious triumphalism is endemic to one of Glasgow’s football club.

“Have you ever participated in singing/behaviour at games or in a footballing environment that may be considered offensive?”

Is this linked to the previous question? Anti-imperialism, republicanism, etc. are no doubt divisive, but there is no moral equivalency between them and racism, religious triumphalism, etc.

The rivalry is asymmetrical (if I can use that word), which is why it is so important to consider the clubs separately.

Generally, the Celtic support is anti-imperialist, and the other support is imperialist; generally the Celtic support is republican, and the other support is monarchist; generally, the Celtic support is opposed to religious triumphalism, and the other support is bound to religious triumphalism.

It is easy to conflate tensions between nationalists and Unionists with tensions between Catholics and Protestants, when the situation in the north-east of Ireland is often considered - whether disingenuously or sincerely - to be the consequence of religion, rather than the consequence of imperialism.

With no disrespect Daniel, I will not be getting involved in your survey. This is due to the fact that nearly every year someone doing a project like yours, comes on here looking for input. As I've done it several times free of charge, I now feel I can no longer contribute my input into football rivalries and what I think of them * across the Clyde.
I also make a mental note that the requesters never appear on the forum again thus adding no input into our ongoing project. So for now I will say fair well and good luck in your education.
If you really desire my input my mind could be swayed with a score quid!:50:

If I was you I would try and do some sort of discourse analysis as research. There have been unbelievable amounts of literature on this topic from academic papers to documentaries and in-depth news reports etc.

    The topic covers a vast range of topics including;

History - Scottish, Irish, UK...Monarchy, Migration of groups, Famine etc etc

Sociology - social class, religion and role this plays or has played etc

Political - OBFA, SNP (who introduced the act) this can also link in with Police Scotland and behaviours and tactics.

Just a small sample. After this, there is a * load of gov reports on ScotGov, media articles and documentaries to name but few which can be analysed and certain behaviours and patterns. Not sure if slapping a survey on a few fans forums will get you a good depth of research and results to analyse. This is something you should put forward to your supervisor as an alternative to a survey based style.

    Done.

A few decent responses in here again, second time around.

For what it is worth, the guy has asked to come back on after getting his wires crossed the first time, and has gone away and tried to alter his approach, so fair *.

If you don't want to answer then fine, but it would be interesting to even get some more bits of feedback on this subject in general, within this thread, IMO. There's a lot of knowledgeable * on here, as we know.

    Good luck with the research.

@Dan Lawrence do you have a middle name? If so does it begin with H? Like ol' D.H. Lawrence? Have you seen Easy Rider?

It was a weird atmosphere. I think the previous result against Man City gave us a bit of belief and we walked into that game thinking we could win it. The Germans were absolutely brilliant, so well organised and tactically sound. It was men against boys I'm sad to admit. And once our heads went down there was no coming back. That's why I love going in as a big underdog and causing an upset. The Manchester City 3-3 game was * unbelievable. Probably the best game I've been to in years.

Done. Didn’t see the first questions but don’t see the problem with those ones.
What the Gladbach atmosphere has to do with this I’ve no idea.
