I was just thinking about how all over the place our squad numbers are. First of all, numbers 2, 3, 4 and 7 aren't taken. Although maybe they retired the number 4 after Ambrose left. Thought someone would have snapped up the number 7 honestly.

And then you've got Tierney 63, Forrest 49, McGregor 42, Ntcham took 21. One of the most senior members of the squad, and vice-captain RB Lustig is 23.

    Could be worse.

Remember Derek Riordon (in his 2nd spell at Hibs) wore 01.

Kinda the done thing nowadays to hold onto your original shirt number. Some players will like it and some couldn't give a * what number they have. And some will be desperate to change to a lower number.

21, 23, 14, is tolerable. The * thing is having those 49, 42, american football numbers for every player that came from Lennoxtown. Tierney has a thing with this being his father's year of birth but Forrest, McGregor, those sort of guys should be getting a proper number

When larsson left I wanted the 7 shirt retired but the years have mellowed me: pleased #PR7 will be the next 'worthy' custodian

1-11 aye. Retiring an unusual number after a legend leaves is alright. For instance i hope no one wears 63 after KT.

I'm sure the original squad numbers thing goes back to Tommy Burns. O'Dea, McGeady etc kept theirs. I'm sure O'Dea said it was for Tommy

You made me feel so sad, bringing back all these memories.
But i know Tommy would not want us to sad, he'd want us to celebrate his spirit.

sry folks, tears are streaming from my eyes as i type this.

Give Lustig 2, KT 3, new centre back 4, Paddy 7, Eboue 16, Forrest 17, McGregor 23 and a new striker 27. Then the squad looks a lot more acceptable. Personal opinion is that the first team squad should be as close to 1-25 as possible with academy players taking the numbers above that.
