    Champions League

    2017/18
    Group Stage Draw

Celtic are well and truly back in amongst the big boys of European football as they find themselves in Group B alongside German champions Bayern Munich, Qatar rich PSG, and Belgian champions Anderlecht
    .

Let's take a look at the opposition...

    Group B

    Bayern Munich

Last time the two teams met was back in the 2003/4 season, where an Alan Thompson goal to take the lead at the Olympiastadion was overturned by a Roy Makaay brace in a respectable effort from Martin O'Neill's men, with the reverse tie resulting in a stalemate at Parkhead.

Brendan Rodgers' side will come up against the reigning Bundesliga champions, in their Ultra modern and vibrant Allianz Arena led by Carlo Ancelotti. With quality from back to front, the Bhoys will have to be at their best to match Die Roten, who are serial winners in Europe's top competition.

    Paris Saint-Germain

Previously meeting the Parisian side in the old Cup Winner's Cup, the tie was one to forget for Tommy Burn's men as they were defeated 4-0 on aggregate by Luis Fernández's team which included defender Stephen Mahé who went on to join the hoops.

The Ligue 1 runners-up nowadays boast a wealth both on and off the park, with latest star signing Neymar commanding the highest fee in football history, reported to be £200m. Unai Emery's side will be another tough matchup in a glamorous draw in this year's group stages.

    Anderlecht

Another familiar opponent for Celtic are Pro League winners RSC Anderlecht, with the two teams being involved in the same group that contained Bayern Munich back in 2003/4. The home ties were both won by the hosts as the games ended with a 3-2 aggregate scoreline in favour of Glasgow's green & white.

René Weiler's team will be looking at the two fixtures against the Scottish treble winners as vital to bringing European football to Brussels after Christmas.

Brendan Rodger's Celtic side head into the group stages high in confidence after achieving record breaking feats domestically last season, winning an Invincible Treble in the manager's first season in the job.

They'll look to take that momentum into this year's elite level tournament after a strong showing throughout the qualifying campaign, which can be argued as an achievement in its own right when many teams fail to progress to the riches of European football.

The manager has his eyes set on more European nights in 2018, a last 16 place would be a phenomenal achievement but perhaps a third place finish could prove to be a route to a longer adventure, who knows. All we know is there is going to be a show... and the Glasgow Celtic will be there!
