BRENDAN Rodgers is aiming for his Celtic side to use home advantage in tomorrow night’s (Wednesday) UEFA Champions League qualifier against Rosenborg.

The Norwegian champions arrive with a proven European pedigree from seasons past and will be keen to increase their recent standing in the competition.

The manager said: “We are expecting a tough game as they are the champions of their country and leading their competition at the moment.

“They’re well into their season now at this stage so they'll be at a good level of fitness.

“Having studied them over the years I’ve found Rosenborg are set on how they play. They like to build the game from behind. They are used to dominating the ball.”

He added: “They are a club with a great history and they are trying to get back into the Champions League, which they haven’t been in for 10 years.

“They are very much based on the team. We are preparing for a very difficult game and of course with the first-leg being at home we want to take advantage of that.”

The Celts, however, could be without top striker, Moussa Dembele and, with fellow hit-man, Leigh Griffiths also out of the running, the manager will leave a decision on the Frenchman’s injury for as late as possible.

The manager said: “We could be without him and Leigh tomorrow night. It’s a tight hamstring so we need to find out the exact assessment on that.

Danish defender, Erik Sviatchenko could also be a doubt for the match but the manager has faith in his squad.

Brendan Rodgers said: “Erik could well miss this game, so we’ll assess that for the second-leg.
